Need Printer/Scanner recommendation for slab scans

I thought for sure I'll be getting the Canon MP500 but it failed the depth-of-field scan test. The HP 3210 did great but it doesn't have quite the text quality I prefer in a printer. Any other suggestions? The Epson (all-in-one; I forget the model) also failed the scan test. I didn't have any slabs with me at the time to test, so I used my bundle of keys on a key ring instead. There's all sorts of depth-of-field there. The HP did superbly, but the other two blurred when the focus had to be more than a couple of millimeters off of the platen.

The only requirement I have is that it has a built in printer/scanner/copier functionality with multiple color cartridges. I don't want to purchase a separate scanner.

I think we did all this scanner stuff many times in the past. Scanners are made for flat scanning, not for depth. Note if you put you face or other body parts on the scanner, the output is distorted. The same with a coin in a slab. They have just come out with this great new invention to replace scanners for coins. They are called cameras.

I just don't get it with all the folks saying you can't scan slabs without the image being distorted. Perhaps your settings are off? I have the HP 950 all-in-one. After a couple years I bought the Epson Photo scanner, (don't have the model number handy.) Much better quality scans, but again, neither one have given me blurry scans. Now, of course I don't get luster..... and the image "connoisseurs" hate when I still post a scan. But once in a while I do it anyway. Actually I get great detail with a scanner if I want to do so.

    Signed..... Ol' Dinosaur!!

Edit to add, IMO you're not going to get as good a quality scanner in an all-in-one. I wasn't happy with the HP after a while, which is why I got the Epson. I have usually found when items such as this don't have the technology focused in just one area it's not as good.
