I found a site with images of many, but none quite like this. Is it the real deal?

  • Denomination needs to be displayed. 'Cents, Dollar'. You have a token with a marginal amount of debased gold, Ive heard that they still make these for keepsakes in San Francisco.

No real Cal fractional has a bear on it.

  • Any of the tokens with a bear on the reverse are of modern manufacture. Some have value, but the piece you posted would have an approximate value of $1-$3.

I found one of these on the floor at a coin show. I immediately showed it to two dealers who both said it was fake.

It's a piece of crap. If fact the execution on this on is below average.

If you see the word, “Eureka!” or a bear on the piece and don’t the see anything like “Dol” or cents or some indicator of money other than a fraction, it’s a hunk ‘o junk.

Some of the bear tokens are worth decent money, especially those included in the 1915 Pan Pac "Hart Sets".
