Name one coin you want and would buy in a heartbeat...

MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 24,355 ✭✭✭✭✭
but you just can't find it.

Maybe you'll get lucky and someone here can help you find it.

I'll start.

I need a very low end S-VDB for a client to complete an album. It can have a rim bump or two, incomplete rims and any other problems as long as it's authentic and not so ugly that it will jump out of the album as a problem. And it needs to be priced accordingly.

I've been looking for a year. Please help.

I was at a show today and I bet I saw half a dozen circ 85-CC's. None quite as bad as AG or G tho. And a few 03-O in circ too!!

1805 Half Cent(C-1) with nice, even hard brown color on a good planchet, AU-low MS. i'm finding that this is a very elusive issue.

Not many '33-S walkers show up for sale very often no matter what MS grade. It appears that most collectors tend to hold this coin when they obtain it. It's a coin I've wanted one for a long time myself and a nice 63 is about all I wanted to pay. DLRC had one up on their site the last week and I finally took the dive last night. I paid a premium, but I doubt anyone will see this particular coin on the market again for a long time. image

A MS 1876-S DDO Trade Dollar. Rumor is that one exists......I'd have to fight TDN for it.

An 1830 LM-5/V13 Capped Bust half dime in VF-AU, or perhaps an 1829 LM-12/V10 Capped Bust half dime in AU-MS, or maybe an 1832 LM-9.2/V14 Capped Bust half dime in any grade. And while we're at it, how about an 1844 V1 half dime in any grade, or an 1850-O V3 half dime in any grade, or an 1841-O V2 half dime in any grade. I don't believe the last three even exist. Any help on any of these would be greatly appreciated.

  • There are lots of coins I would buy in a heartbeat but I can't find the right combination of quality and price. They are PCGS graded type coins like:

    Chain Cent VG
    1859 IHC MS 64
No Stars Half Dime MS 65
    No Stars Dime MS 64
  • A 1935-d walker with a full head in a PCGS ms-65 slab.

Price would matter because these are expensive coins, but here goes:

An 1878 Morgan VAM 14.11 in XF or less in a PCGS holder
An 1878 Morgan VAM 44 in XF or less in a PCGS holder
A 1914 Mexico "Caballito" Peso in MS-anything in a PCGS holder
    When in doubt, don't.

This has been on my want list for over 20 years:

Any "truly" GEM UNC seated quarter in the 1840-1849 window.
I've only seen a couple in 30 years and they weren't buyable at
the time. The services have "graded" any number of these in
65/66 grades but I can assure that most or all of them do not qualify for gem mint (full & strong luster, no rub, original surfaces, well struck, and clean). Most in 65 holders are semi-scrubbed and retoned or brutally dullish. I've yet to see one with full luster.

  • It doesn't seem like much, but right at the moment a 1965 SMS cent in at least PCGS 67 red. I need it to finish the 3 year SMS set.

Along the lines of Steve's last post, I would purchase:

1796 small eagle quarter eagle, a coin which should logically exist

1870-s quarter, a coin which should exist

Assuming adequate funds...some tough half dime die marriages and remarriages:

1830 LM-5/V-13, 1833 LM-5/V-10, 1832 LM-9.2/V-14. Plus a couple "easier" ones would be the 1834 LM-5/V-3 and 1835 LM-5.2/V-10 in XF or better. There are plenty more, but those would be the highlights for now. Anyone with a few spares, please PM your price!!!
