<< <i>Then you see on the beckett board thread that someone on a specific day graded 8 or 9 cards in a row as pristine 10's...... >>
A lot of those were bccg cards. You can tell because there are no subgrades. For some reason, when you submit to bgs, the grades aren't always perfectly sequential, and the cards that fall " in between" are usually bccg cards. (BTW, I always wonder who is still submitting those cards, especially the really low dollar ones. There can't be much profit in that).
My take is that beckett should not allow sub bumps unless they change the overall grade. That would prevent dealers like bgsbrad from getting a bump in grade incrementally by submitting a card 10 times to get one sub-grade higher and then another ten times to get another one higher, etc. It would cut the population of 10's by a huge percentage and give them better PR...so of course they'll never do it.
<< <i>Beckett once featured an article about a 98 Finest Fred Taylor getting a 10 and how rare it was. I really feel bad for those people who paid the huge premium for the BGS 10s back then. >>
Hell, I feel sorry for people that are paying the price for BGS 10's NOW!!!!!!
So is this like the Mona Lisa now? You could steal it, but unloading it for any kind of $$$ is a another story. Would anyone pay five figures for it now knowing that BGS Brad has previously tried to sell it twice, unsuccessfully and that it may have once been a BGS 9.5?
Ahh...our old pal BGSBrad....Sub-Bumps are nothing new with BGS and BGSBrad does quite a bit more than just get sub bumps, but we've discussed that quite a few times already.
That being said, Pujols is the golden child of baseball right now. No rumors of steroid use, a young power hitter on a very good team. 'Nuff said. (Is it worth $10k...$20k...More? Not to me, but then I don't have that kind of coin to throw around...

How about this for a "potential" big money Pujols; Am sure you'll see this card again with an embellishment - hard to believe they would sell these (even at a bankruptcy auction - seller had a ton of similar ones).
