Lisa in the bottom 3? That's unbelievable.
  • No surprise for the exit, Lisa in the bottom 3 was a shocker. I think this year is going to be full of surprises due to it's really a level playing field unlike other seasons.
  • Stone193Stone193 Posts: 24,488 ✭✭✭✭✭
    Ya know...

Bucky has his fans - but he was only one away from Lisa.

Which means that he was in the bottom area also.

So far, the only surprise was Ace - I thought he had more fans that that?

    Oh well, till next week

  • I wasn't surprised that Lisa was bottom three. Yes, she had a good performance, but it was somewhat forgettable, mired in the middle. You had a string of four performances at the end (Katherine, Paris, Taylor, and Chris) that were all better than the last and I think placement factored in Lisa losing votes.

The real test to see who isn't getting the votes will be in the next few weeks, if expected popular Idols like Ace and Lisa continue in the bottom three...

    More idol tampering.

I usually tape the performance night of Idol to rewatch, so I can give a second opinion on performances.

I recently rewatched last weeks episode and noticed that the producers tampered with the tape.

As we all know Melissa messed up both times on the word "Premonition" while singing the song Lately. When they played back the clips of the performances at the end of the show with everyone's number, some how she hit the word "premonition" and didn't stumble. I'm wondering if they didn't want Melissa to get the boot and were doing all they could to keep her in the competition. Seeeing some people don't catch the entire show, but catch the recap at the end.

Anyways, it just makes me wonder what other crap they have done.

    << <i>Truth about Kellie >>

gimme a friggin break, of course she's putting on a little bit of an act, but that site is total BS..

i'm assuming you meant to send us to THIS link..

all of the stuff they post about her is just anonymous people's opinions.. and yes, the American Idol show or TV guide channel or something already showed her on her local "gimme the mic" show.. it's still not comparable to American Idol.. and one of these "sources" says she's lying when she says she's nervous? how would they know?

<< <i>I think the women are much stronger than the men this year.

My prediction of the top 5 (in no particular order):

    Women
    Mandisa
    Lisa Tucker
    Paris Bennett
    Kellie Pickler
    Katharine McPhee

    Men
    Ace Young
    Bucky Covington
    Chris Daughtry
    Elliott Yamin
    Taylor Hicks

The number 6 spot for each sex is a toss up.

On topic: I wouldn't buy the cards even if Upper Deck did release them this year. >>

WOW ... what a horrific night on the show! Not many positive things to comment on other than Bucky did real well tonight. Never thought I'd write that!
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
  • Last night was a bad night. I thought the best of the night were Taylor and Paris. I thought Elliott butchered his song, but not as bad as Ace.

I'm starting to believe that Kellie and Chris are painting themselves into corners with their song selection.

My bottom three tonight are Ace, Bucky and Lisa, and I can't even imagine who will go home as this season is too close to call.

Nothing should be shocking anymore, seeing who really knows where all the votes are going. Soon we'll find out exactly how big of fan base people really have. This year is a toss up, even though it seems like Chris may be the "favorite".
  • Stone193Stone193 Posts: 24,488 ✭✭✭✭✭
    Sorry I've been AWOL!

I was surprised about Katherine but no totally.

She's so good that people may avoid voting - thinking she's a definite for the finals.

    My small annoyance:

Weeks prior: Simon told Taylor he looked "old" for the competition. So they did a little makeover - now Simon criticizes him for looking a little too Clay Aiken! WTF?

Also, prior week they commended Chris for "sticking" to what he is - this past week Simon chastises him for being monolithic! Hey! The guy is a grundge rocker - what's wrong with that?

I was not surprised by the bottom elimination.

This week is Country and Western - on Kellie; her question: "that's two areas....which should I sing? Country? or Western?" LOL

    See ya tuesday!
Notice Ryan isn't saying "Seacrest out" this year?

Man, season 5 has really become boring to me. It reminds me of Season 3. As Simon would say this season is like "So What". Not very impressed by the first 4 weeks of competition. Hasn't had the performances or vocals like seasons 2 and 4.
  • Stone193Stone193 Posts: 24,488 ✭✭✭✭✭
    I agree.

    Last nite was a snoozer!

People can criticize Simon for his rude, brash remarks but for me, he's usually correct.

With all the great C&W songs - many with rock and blues overtones, for Tylor to pick "Country Road?"

I was in a band in the early 90s where me and drummer used to make fun of the song - we would just keep singing 'country road' as the lyrics in the song! It's BORING!

I, personally, could not understand Bucky and think he's overrated in the competition.

And, for my taste, Kellie Pickler is no Reba - she sounded just ok to me.

So the two C&W people didn't shine IMO.

So who goes home tonite? I really don't know.

I would put ALL of them in the bottom 3 last nite!

    Just "keeping it real" image

    Bucky should go IMO
    mike
    Mike
  • Mike, I agree with you that Bucky 'should' go home, but he has a following and I still can't figure out why. I think Chris was the best vocal on the night and Katherine was the best performance--she was the only one that really looked like she had fun on the stage and I think that goes a long way in the voter's eyes. Kellie has now started to annoy me and every time she finishes singing I hope and pray Ryan Seacrest shuffles her off the stage fast.

I have a feeling that the bottom three will come out of the first five to perform--Taylor, Mandisa, Elliott, Paris, and Ace.

I was completely bored throughout the entire episode and I am firmly convinced that all bets are off on this season. No one is safe if the performances continue like this.

    No big surprise again.

Why must the show repeat things they already did in the past when revealing the bottom 3.

Last night by putting Ace, Bucky, and Katherine together, you knew that was not going to be the bottom 3, they only did that to get morons that don't pay attention to past seasons or newbies to think that is going to be the bottom three, but then "fool" everyone by announcing a different group. Too bad they can't come up with better ideas seeing anyone who has watched the show, knows this is the little game they play and it doesn't fool any die hard fans.

Now the question is, will Mandisa's votes go to Paris?

Next week could be the first entertaining week, seeing it is the songs of Queen.
  • I was a little disappointed with Mandisa being voted off if only for the fact that I would have enjoyed her singing 'fat bottomed girls' by Queen this upcoming week. But then again, my wife calls me an A--hole for thinking things like that.

I think Queen will be an interesting song selection for these contestants. I can see Katherine, Ace, Taylor and Elliott do real well with it, but I think Chris might actually struggle a little and Paris and the country bumpkins are toast. Won't matter though as clear cut favorites are starting to emerge (Chris, Kellie).

Every year there's a week of surprises...

Not gonna try to figure it out...

Mandisa was too good to leave already but that's voting.

I agree Queen songs will "challenge" some more than others.

Personally I think the "House Band" from the INXS program was better sounding than this group.

OK - who should be the one to help Kellie figure out what a "Bohemian Rhapsody" is! image

    Hey

    Didn't anyone watch tonite?

    Another unforgetable evening's entertainment!

Take your choice who should be in the bottom 3?

Queen? Not sure I like the theme.

As long as we're looking for the daring and interesting...

    Next week? Wayne Newton Songs!

But, then again, Simon will have to take 20 minutes to explain to Kellie what Dankashein means!!! image

How about songs by the Carpenters? or better yet... how about Bread!!!! Air Supply!!! OK, now I'm cracking myself up! LOL

I think I'm just about done in for this year.

Started with promise and IMO, it's gone down hill.

Am I alone on this one?
    Guess I'm just cranky tonite?

For me, this wasn't as bad as the previous weeks, but far from being "great".

Why not a "One Hit Wonder" week? There are some classic songs that they could do.

I'm hoping they avoid the Musical and Big Band weeks.

Movie week could be a good one if they did it again. Probably still have a disco/70's week also.
  • The evening started out lousy but did improve. Chris sang great, but I don't think anybody knew the song. Katharine was the strongest vocal. Elliott, Taylor and Paris I thought all performed well.

I think our bottom three will come from the first three to perform--Bucky I had already forgotten by the time Kellie sang. Ace blew it on quite possibly the safest Queen song there was. Kellie looked god awful and her singing matched her look. I think Ace is going home, but once again, all bets are off.

    Some good insight guys.

I agree with what has been said.

And, I do think the Queen motif was better than some of the other stuff.

Not sure where to go from here?

There are a lot of great groups to pick from - but then again, they are limiting themselves to a headliner or group that they can "actually" bring on the show.

    So, the Beatles is out.

I agree, please, NO SHOW TUNES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there may be only 1 or 2 that involve songs by certain people left in the competition and they might be by the song writers/composers and not by the group or person that sang them.

Where is the Paula Abdul Week??? Now that would be a very interesting week. lol

I think Gedeon would have been doing well if he would have made the top 12. He would be in the top 7 right now.

Each year I start liking someone and then later on change my mind. This year it is Taylor. I just don't think he is very good or entertaining anymore. I think my top 3 are Chris, Elliott, and Katharine. Hopefully people start voting for Elliott so he can stay in awhile longer.

Paris reminds me too much of Fantasia with her singing and movements.

Ace, well, I totally agree he should have went home awhile ago.

Kellie is tooooooooo fake and is starting to get really annoying.
  • Could this be the week we finally lose Kellie? She was the worst singer last night.

Kellie isn't going anywhere and that includes the bottom 3. I think it's going to come down to Ace and Elliott on who goes home. It's really a toss up, for some reason I think Elliott may get the Ax, but Ace hopefully gets cut.
  • Ace be gone.

There still will be a couple more weeks of predictable exit's until it gets tough. Then it will be popularity more than talent.

I'm glad that America disagrees with the judges. When I first heard Catherine's song, I was blown away. My thought was that this competition was hers to lose. With her voice and her looks, she will be a star. Then I heard what the Randy, Paula, and Simon had to say and I wondered if they were watching the same performance. After the whole show, I still thought it was best of the night. I was happy to hear Ryan say that her and Chris were the Top 2.

As for the Elliott thing, I just don't get it. His voice does nothing for me. I couldn't imagine in a thousand years ever going into a CD store and buying that crap. Paula actually cried? WTF.

That blind Italian guy though, his voice is incredible. I've never heard anything like that. I just might go buy his CD now.
  • Katharine did sound "good", but the judges were right, the song was bigger than her by the way she sang it. She didn't do it the justice like other people have in the past. IE: Check out Trenyce's performance from AI Season 2, she did the song justice! Katharine probably could have done the song, but she sang it "safely" thus received the comments she did.
  • NBAFanNBAFan Posts: 744
From the performances Paris should go home, but will she?

I actually liked Taylor this week. Chris was good also. Elliott was just ok and Katharine dropped the ball on Against All Odds, but came back with a good second performance.
  • MintstateMintstate Posts: 254 ✭✭
Taylor is a character, and he can sing. I don't think he can win, but he's fun to watch. I really don't think Elliot is that good, and should go next. I'll take Chris and Katherine in the final, with Katherine winning.
  • pandrewspandrews Posts: 7,598 ✭✭✭
    should definitely be paris..
    ·p_A·
  • I think Elliott and Paris were equally average this week. I see one of them going home.

Katharine and Chris had one good performance and one bad performance, but I see them as the front runners for this contest. Taylor was the only consistent one and he has the fans.

    Officer Hooks, that's good.

Her and Elliott are the 2 is like the least. I would like to see Katherine or Chris win it. Mostly Katherine just because she is smokin' hot. Taylor is good too.

So who do you think Paris's supporters will go to? I think the majority of the people that would like Paris's music, would tend to lean towards Taylor's style of music. I think many would go to Katherine too if they are a bigger fan of female voices than male. I think almost none of them would go to Chris. Chris could only steal votes from Elliott or Taylor I believe.
  • NBAFanNBAFan Posts: 744
This is the first year where I really don't care who wins anymore, because I have no problem with any of them winning. They are all good singers and are deserving of the title. In my opinion Chris and Katharine are the front runners with Taylor and Elliott being the sentimental underdogs. Anything could happen next week, even though it would seem it would be Elliott's turn to go home.
  • WabittwaxWabittwax Posts: 1,984 ✭✭✭
Well, looks like I almost hit that one on the nose. Chris obviously didn't get ANY of Paris's votes because he went from top 2 to bottom 2 almost instantly. Same thing with Katherine. If she gets kicked off next week, then I'm done this season. Funny thing is, Chris really didn't make any bad mistakes recently and a LOT of people thought the competition was his. BTW, did you see that look on his face when Ryan told him? He looked like a truck just hit him.
  • ROCKDJRWROCKDJRW Posts: 1,330 ✭✭✭
I thought Chris was going to win also. The look was priceless. I had to rewind the DVR three times to watch his face. I need to go check the newswire because Paula may have killed herself last night.

  • I was expecting Chris to go home last night, so it didn't surprise me. He has been great so far, but his second song on Elvis night seemed flat. There is an infatuation with Katharine and that's the only reason she is still there. She was the weakest singer on Tuesday and should have been sent packing, but the fan polls still favor her. I am still scratching my head that Elliott is still there--all I can figure is he is garnering all the votes from the kicked offs. I think Elliott runs out of steam this week, with a finale being between Taylor and Katharine and Taylor becoming the next American Idol.

I actually didn't watch much of this weeks shows due to sleeping in before work. I figured I really didn't care who went home seeing they are all decent.

Elliott's mom went crazy after he sang "Trouble". I can't imagine what she'll do if he makes it to the finals let alone wins. He is still the underdog of the three going into next week, but anything could happen. If he pulls off 3 great performances next week he very well could be in the finals. Taylor has yet to be in the bottom 3 or 2 if I recall correctly.
