No slab just graded by NGC with an insert, won't fit in a slab, it is in a very large SAFLIP...

Those are definitely on the image list.

Is it kosher to ask what the value of this particular piece is?

I'm still in love with the price on the one that Ajaan sold to me...image

I guess I'll be the lone dissenter: I don't like it. The features and interior surfaces look nice, but I don't like the rims. I think it has too many dings for a MS piece... or is that the difference between MS61 and MS63 or 64?

(not to knock the OP, it's just that I like clean rims on this type...image )

Yeah, lotsa luck with that image
Mark-free pieces that I've seen have been priced between $1000 and $2000 here.

I have called NGC AND ANACS and while, at the time I called, they were willing to grade the 1797 2d, it does not fit in a slab. The wildman talers do not fit in NGC SLABS and I had one graded, thinking it would fit, and it was graded a 55

No the flip is not sealed, so yes it could be swapped, and maybe it already has, just a chance to take. I think it is a decent looking coin regardless, don't think there is a way for any TPG to put these in slab?

As far as the rims go they are quite clean, part of what you see 1-2 and 10-11 O'clock on the obverse is some metal flow. Granted there are some small dings as well, not sure how these were handled during
and after the minting, but it does not take much to ding these big boys image It weighs 57.2 grams or just a tad over 2 ounces, too bad it were'nt gold image

Spink pricing for these in the 2005 edition is £325 in EF and no pricing in Unc, I paid $460 including the juice....

Not a bad price. In five years it'll probably be a $1000 coin.

$460 does sound like a very good price and that is a great looking coin!

  • Thanks for all the comments, I am happy with this purchase, and it is a nice match with my 1797 1d of MS-60 as graded by ANACS, which is in platic..... image

I like the piece. Most of them I have seen have far, far more knocks, dings and dents than that one!! Good find, rhound!

image A great example of a coin highly sought after down under.

Just out of curiosity: does anyone know if there is any easy way to tell, just by looking at a screenshot, whether it's a 1 pence or 2 pence?

My specimens are both worn way too flat to spot the difference... image

Just looking at an image is difficult. If had another coin as reference in the shot . . .

Sure it would fit into a multi-holder. Just need to make a special request.
