Mike, I think the best way to answer that is to steal a line from your post.
<< <i> When I post a scan it's because I'm either excited about a new pick up or I have a burning desire to share something since my wife could care less. >>
You (and everyone else here) knows that if I had something to say, I'd say it and then the battle royale would begin. My scans were to merely show some recent pick ups. The 58 and 59's were from an ad in the paper and the 68's were a combination of a card store pick up for a dollar and some cards that a fellow collector gave to me. That's all, no hidden agenda. I fully do not expect someone to say "wow, that VG '58 Robin Roberts looks so good in an SGC holder that I'm going to crossover my entire collection". All I wanted to do was share some cards, plain and simple. My card collecting budget is quite limiited so I get excited about getting a decent 50's or 60's card that looks nice. To me , they are rare and have great eye appeal. I cannot afford vintage Mantles or Williams so I'm quite happy with a graded 6 or 7 of a vintage common card. I share these scans hoping that someone else can enjoy them.
The term "mediocre" was used (not by you) so that's what I was refering to. I appreciate your comments and agree that PSA may not like having the competition discussed in a favorable light on their website. In the past, I've tried to stick to posting in the "Sports cards and memoribilia" forum or the "vintage sportscard trading" forum so as to not dilute the "PSA set registry" forum with scans of non PSA material. While this site is of course run by CU/PSA, it projects the image of being an all purpose/general forum on the hobby. The site lends itself to being a soapbox for discussion and I have undoubtedly taken my turn on the soapbox numerous times. I think that this site is one of the more active on the net (much more active than the SGC site) and I enjoy the minute by minute banter and hobby knowledge shared here. Its almost addictive. At times I've even enjoyed the "spirited debate" that takes place between fans of the major grading services. Its definitely a place to keep your skills sharp and much more entertaining than fighting with the wife.
It seems that the majority of responses here have taken exception to my comments and perhaps I'm just not explaining things the way I wish them to come across. I will in the future temper my comments so that I do not fan the flames. Time spent arguing is time lost with our collections and to put it simply, I'm too damn old and tired at age 36 to waste time arguing. I shall in the future try to keep things in a more cordial tone and will give it my very best effort not to incite civil unrest in the grading world. Choose your company, enjoy your cards, and keep the hobby alive for the next generation.

Good comments Jim. I can't speak for how PSA moderators handled things before I joined, but I believe PSA does allow a lot of latitude in discussing competition and a wide variety of subjects. A quick illustration of course is that none of your threads were deleted.
In my opinion, this CU forum is the best baseball card forum around and I don't think any other forum is even close - and I have checked out most of them. I'm not going to knock any other forum, but suffice to say in my view this one provides the most useful information, valued opinions from a number of knowledgeable members, and frankly is by far the most fun and enjoyable. Maybe in my own silly way I was being "overprotective" of it because I do enjoy it so much...and I agree that it is almost addictive but to me that's a "good" addiction, if there is such a thing as a "good" addiction - LOL

"This is yet another poor job of quality control by PSA. Why does anyone still use them?" "The grading standards at PSA really look like they've gone to crap with that one."
and on and on ... okay that's his opinion and that's fine, but this is PSA's board! Try posting stuff like that about the company where you work on the lunch room bulletin board!
I got no real problem with the guy. Just don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining ...

Yeah, people get banned for their opinions from what I've read in the past. Where's Brotha Quasar....
Nothing smoother than listening to Bob James and sipping on a glass of vintage Courvoisier! It's PIMPnificent!

Say, how 'bout those Mets?
"All evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
<< <i>Come on guys - there really is a better place for all this (I hope....) Let the man show his cards and be done with it. Much ado about nothing.
