New to boards with a few wants

Hello all I am new to these boards but not so new to collecting coins. I am looking to start with a new silver want on the graded American eagle coins 1986 to date. Will take ungraded but really looking for MS 69 or proofs.

Thanks,

Bill

Yes I've been watching cost for ungraded stuff sell for more than graded in most cases on Ebay. Im not really looking to invest top dollar on MS69's but will buy if price is right, I may just buy the NGC set I've seen it for as low as $550 on few websites, or if you guys have some sources please share!

    bdollarbill,

hey, watch out for differences in grading companies!

how do I say this without dissing NGC? hm.

those NGC coins you are looking at might not be a bargain bill!

Show us pictures of what you plan to buy and watch the good and
not so good advice roll in.

I'd let them play 1st half then bench them nothing to gain by winning or losing.

NGC is a reputable grader, but they do tend to give the grade of MS69 a bit more liberally than PCGS, and the price in the market for these coins generally indicates this fact...Mike

    Graded bullion?
the silver melt price and, the cost of the holder is what you are paying for. I suggest the pcgs or ngc PR69 graded coins. Proof coins are great for A nice collection. To look at or to pass down to your Grand kids..

    image Aboard !

come time to sell the NGC coins will be percieved as one grade lower on the SAE's which is BS in my opinion !

Buy PCGS as cheap as ya can.

image I noticed that there is a post on the BST forum for complete sets 86-05 PCGS MS69. The post is by Cameo CC. I haven't dealt with them, nor am I familiar with the price of MS69 SAE.

When it comes to modern proof silver Eagles or bullion UN Eagles.
I dont think that a few dollars either way would be an issue.
I think NGC may have the nack for modern coins with there white holders.

    Welcome aboard mate.

Personally, I can't see the reason for buying graded bullion. That stuff is very common and no dealer will ever offer you more that bullion price for it no matter who graded it.

Every year I buy a silver eagle and I put it in a Capitol Plastics holder that I have mounted on a wall of mine. That way I can show off a nice coin collection and keep the rest in the deposit box.

To each his own though. The best thing about coin collecting is the many ways coins can be collected. Enjoy your hobby however it suits you.

Thats my take on it anyway.

Every man is a self made man.

Someone correct please if I am wrong but I personally was of the belief if you buy a BU coin gold or silver graded that the holder esp. the big name grade companies put them in tamperproof & so called sealed holders, one to protect from swaping coins of lesser grade into holder but more so to protect the condition of the coin from getting spots etc....

Welcome, If you can find PCGS or NGC set in MS69 1986 to 2005 for under $600 it's probably a good deal, but then what do you collect? Your done except one coin a year. imageimage

I'm willing to buy graded coins other than NGC just seems that the NGC MS69 coins seem to be very avail. & I would love to keep the coins all graded by same Company just to have a set all the same grade. But I will but the singles too. Maybe just the proof coins I will buy graded & the set coins just as uncirculated coins??
