  • Oh yea, isnt this the coin forum?
  • The Christmas holidays seems to have brought out all kinds of people not looking at who they were buying from. It only gets worse from here on out with eBay rapidly expanding globally to assure they have the market cornered for the worst that could be imagined.

Well, it looks like he built up 300+ positives and then snagged over 100 people at once near christmas for a lot of money. A typical scam but on a larger scale. Most scam are users with a history of a few months, his went back a couple of years. No one could have seen it coming.

I guess to keep this coin related there was a coin seller that did something similar with the last name of Cheuvront. I ended up tracking him down and he claimed bankruptcy shortly after. When the lawyers were all through he only had to pay pennies on the dollar and got a way with it all. I lost $4500. I am still a little pissed but I was able to write it off against some stock I sold so no taxes were taken wich are about 50% on short term sales.

<<I dont feel as bad as I should for those people. Did they think that 100 other people lied about him stealing their money and not sending the ipod? Its almost laughable that he got this many people with all of that feedback for his future victims to read and they bid anyway. Have some common sense people!>>

If you look closely you will see all the negative feedbacks where posted between the 13th and the 19th; the auctions ended between the 1st and the 5th which means this guy still had a good rating at the time that they won the auction and sent in thier payments. You can't blame the bidders this time; the seller was a scam artist.

im not sure that i quite agree... if they had looked at all the prior feedback that had been withdrawn and the 2 to 3 negatives with statements like "im too busy to collect your payments" and too busy to stand in line...that would certainly be enough for me to stand clear. Clearly there are a lot of gullible people out there.

    Agreed.

Also, shouldn't those people have had some sort of back-up plan in case the guy turned out to be a scam artist (which he is)? Or not put all of their eggs into one basket.
  • image he is going to be meeting some new FRIENDS as soon as they catch himimage AND put him in prison image mail and postal fruad OUCHimage or he will get probation, community service on the weekends slap on the wrist ? depends on his past record, still I would not want to be in his shoes
BUT.....why did not ebaY stop or catch this sooner? it seems it is happening more and more?

  • This seller seems awful. It seems that most, if not all of the negatives have the exact same complaint so it has to be a scam.
  • It could have been a phished account?

    Worse

    Unbelievable!!!

    What's unbelievable is:
    1. People still bid, with hundreds of negs and neutrals.
    2. Ebay hasn't booted him with 88% pos FB, though the reason is obvious from his volume.
  • If you read the auction you can see that what you are getting can be either great or a total pos! I personally love the posts on there where someone is buying a car speaker for $1.25 that normally sells for $99 and they are pissed when it's not in totally perfect brand new in the box working order! You get what you pay for, if the seller takes the time to test the product then you gonna get something that works. If they test it and it don't work they just gonna say they didn't test cause of time. People are so stupid to expect a liquidation company to try to not sell a product. They just wanna move the crap, err product, out the door as fast as they can and will describe it in the best way possible to accomplish this.

PS: Anyone know who the number 1 2 and 3 feedback peeps on ebay are? This guy was over 520k when I looked.
  • looks like the winners to this guys auctions were the losers

This line from his auctions is a classic:

<< <i>Signs of fraudulent buyers and sellers are very important to know, they try every method to lie and cheat you out of your hard earned money. >>

The tipoff to the buyers should have been that this guy had a truckload of a single item that was in very short supply.

He isn't a bad Ebayer, he's a decent scammer. Me, I was drooling over the BINs for the X-Box 360s this year, it reminded me of my Playstation2 Christmas. The rubes were buying my .jpg of a Playstation2 for $399 and *begging* me for more. That's why I say he's only a decent scammer. I at least sent the buyer the product I was selling. The buyer just needs to read the auction desc instead of jumping to the cheapest BIN.

Thank God they found eBay. The OLD way was to get junk and try to PAWN it. We went nuts but we tested EVERY damn thing that people brought in. Well......if it was unrecognizable as to what it was, we didn't bother to test it.
