James, Happy to see the 76-P T2 Image in there. I loved that coin and am happy to have it in your set. The reverse in particular is spectacular.... MS68 reverse, easy!
Oh yeah, I forgot about the varieties. Absolutely awesome TII!
UH OH! I may have a major problem. I am collecting all US coins from 1965 to date in ms66 and higher. I have no interest in error or die varieties. I consider coins like the small and large date Lincolns, 76 TI,TII Ikes, and 79-p WR SBA major design changes hence coins that should be part of any basic collection. So, the question is, are the 1972-p Ike varieties a die variety or a design change. Do I need to include these in my collection? I was fortunate to buy a 72-p TIII Ike (from segoja!) but no way can afford a TII. I saw jcping's three 72-p Ikes at a show recently, and the TI,TII are much lower relief, like the others from 1971,1972, hence it was a design change, right? Oh no!
<< <i>Nice to finally see some pics of those famous rainbow coins. Apparently I can't use the Pea**** word. This forum actually blocks the *** part. >>
Info on the 72 Ike types is here. Thanks Gandyjai. I still have not decided if I am going to include the three types in my collection. It seems it was a deliberate change in design, so maybe I should, but gosh darn it I don't want to...
I also spent the better part of an hour examining every coin in the #1 set. Overall, a wonderful collection of Ikes!! Congrats on building such a set. I had a few personal favorites from the collection - one that quickly comes to mind was the 76(p) Ty 1 in MS66 - I had never seen one that nice.

<< <i>the 1972 types were created so the TPG's could get more submissions >>
No, TPG did not exist when the 1972 types were created. Also, collectors pushed PCGS to recognize the types.... not vice versa.

Well I suggest you go grab some average Ikes and submit them, get MS66 and 67s, and sell them for thousands of dollars!
Thanks for the post!
Pics were all taken by PCGS. They do a nice job!

Is it just me or does the 78-P pale in comparison to the rest of 'em?
and they're cold.

What an awesome Ike Set!
'Spent the rest of the day running around trying to find some dealers that had ANY kinds
of Ikes......'Had a blast and can't wait to go back tomorrow.

I saw nothing easily improved, or, perhaps improveable at all, except for a one or two coins.
The '76 type I might be improveable and the '78 can almost certainly be improved. I couldn't
touch any of the others.
<< <i>I just bought an ms66 76-p TI but I bet it's not as nice. If you ever find a better one cladking, please sell it to me! >>
OK. But someone else has been offered first refusal.
