Just got off the phone with James Taylor ( Meant for US coins but works here too)

My ANACS nine coin 5 day submission was 2 days late and he said they
would send me a coupon good for nine submissions.
Also I spoke to him about the crossover of these coins and he said they would
go into the new holder at current grades. The only ones that may not are pre takeover
slabs.
Nice Guy and says if they say 5 days they mean 5 days...image

James Taylor is the best. I had dealing with him at ICG and he always returned my emails and made things right.

  • I probably missed this somewhere, but is there a picture of the new holder to be viewed anywhere?

How about 'Fire and Rain'? image

Clank, do a search on the liteside, someone posted the slab over there.

    Found it:

  • Edit--you beat me to it, ajaan.

I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.

Maybe living in Columbus, OH will mellow him.

Eeeew, it's not nice. I like the clear holder, but the shape, the lettering, the colour of the insert... Terrible.

I really liked the old Anacs small holder better than most slabs, half of my collection is still in those and are likely to stay there. image

And what does he mean if they're pre-take over they might not cross? At least for world coins, Anacs pre take over was the toughest service IMO, I have upgraded a big number of Greek coins when I resubmitted them to NGC by many points, one went from AU50 to MS64! But a two point increase was almost the rule.

I think the new slab looks the way it does to show the edges of the coin.

Rumors are about that James & ANACS may be shopping for a ranch in Texas.

I'd vote for Austin, but Dallas might get the nod.....if you know what I mean.image

That will be a great advantage.

But it still doesn't justify the ugly shape and graphics. Shame, because apparently, the research and production of a new slab cost really a lot of money, I remember DH saying that once, so this one is likely to stay for a long time.

I think the shape/concept of the holder are fine, but the insert definitely needs some rework. If they like "Blue", then use a contrasting lighter blue or blue/gray in that window where the coin's grade is printed.
  • I just hope that they fit into NGC and PCGS slab boxes!!image I need to hold one to tell if I like it or not.

I like a lot of his songs (Fire & Rain, Carolina In My Mind, Mexico), but I am not crazy about the job he did on this slab. If I didn't know better I'd swear he had James Brown on the slab design team because that thing is funky!
