So what's the story with this scam?

Lately, I have been receiving a lot of "Messages from eBay Member(s)", asking me the cost of shipping. Well, the cost of shipping is clearly specified in the description of a current auction of mine, but the item number is entirely different, he's not asking about my auction! I also get these emails when I don't have any auctions at all.
Clearly a scam, but what happens if I click the "respond now" ? Has anybody tried it? The layout is identical to ebay's.

<< <i> I believe what happens if you click the "Respond Now" button is that it will take you to a bogus eBay sign in page where you are supposed to enter your eBay name and password. Of course if you do then you have given them to the scammer. >>
That's exactly what happens....so we now make sure that the only "eBay" messages we respond to are those we find in the "My Messages" link in "My eBay". If it is legitimate, it will be in your email AND in you "My Messages" box. If not, it will only be in your emails.
