Man must suck to be a marlins fan...

Every couple years they go on a fire sale. Luis castillio gone. Juan pierre soon to the yankees. Delgado gone, everyone will be gone, they are shooting for 0-162...

Yah, but every few years win a world series... I'd take that.

Just imagine yourself as Joe Girardi. Get your first chance to manage and probably looking forward to possibly taking a good team to the playoffs only to have ownership dismantle the team after you come on board.

//doesn't know if Girardi knew about this before hand, but given that he had other opportunities to manage, I assume not.

I think the Marlins will surprise ... losing Beckett hurts, but Ramirez and Jacobs are highly touted prospects and will play. Hermida will play too, and he shows promise. Division title? Probably not, but they will compete.

Was anyone really looking at Delgado? I think the Mets gave up a lot.

Mets gave up a guy who was 0-3 with a E.R.A over 8 in AAA last year and a player that has played a half of a season in the bigs . Like Mike Francessa said, be careful of guys that have big Septembers. Anyone remember Shane Spencer and Kevin Maas

I was referring to Mike Jacobs ... he is a nice prospect. He could have a monster breakout season.

I do not think there was any interest in Delgado and his salary, and I just think the Mets gave up a lot to get Delgado.

  • 1420,

Jacobs was who i was refering to also. He played about half of the season and played very well but when you can get a proven power hitter which the Mets desperately needed you make the move. The guys here on NY radio called it a no brainer.

I think it was more the salary that kept teams away, not the player.

I agree, just kinda makes you wonder about the trade. The Mets had a decent team last year, and although very good, Delgado is older and at 16 million isn't anywhere near a bargain.

Signing Wagner was huge, I just don't think that Delgado is going to have much better numbers than Jacobs.

As for Marlins fan, I think they could be a wild card team. Seriously.

FYI jacobs just finished winter ball and hit like .220

This trade i agree with. we have been real bad at first since olerud left IMO.

to get delgado for jacobs and petit was worth it.
  • I know im nitpicking here but don't forget that Florida sent the Mets back 7 million in the trade so their actually paying him 13 mil and change a year over the next 3 years
