Lower right corner - NTC, big as life. Why hide it??? Why, indeed...
Can't tell if the appearance of toning is PVC residue + black spot at 10:00 + indeterminable cheek rub and dings from photo lighting + (somewhat typical) weak strike + NTC grading + 10% restocking fee + no Paypal = I run away. Fast.

Looks like our friend Mr D (Greattoning) has quite a hitting streak of poor decision making. It must be difficult to see the light through all those enhanced colors.
Buy the coin, not the holder. The attacks on this board are embarrasing. I think Dick has explained most of the questions posed here, but this is quickly turning into a witchunt. Hey Fatman, you bought from Dick before? No? Perhaps you should keep your opinions to yourself when you have no idea what your talking about. I have purchased from him before, and the coins were at least as good as his pictures.
BTW, I will say that I am dissapointed to see this type of slab in one of his auctions, and I don't like it being concealed. He made a mistake, and if he doesn't like the company he shouldn't sell their coins.
<< <i>Hey Fatman, you bought from Dick before? No? Perhaps you should keep your opinions to yourself when you have no idea what your talking about. >>
Edited: My comment here was removed as it was Hadleydog who attacked me as having no idea what I am talking about. Although my post proved Hadleydog wrong, the post was not complimentary to MrD and that was not my intention. I put that particular experience behind me long ago.

What attacks? Seems to me that Fatman is entitled to his opinion based on his experience.
Seems like you should have first found out first if Fatman had any history with him before accusing him of having no idea of what he is talking about.
Fatman, since you have purchased from Dick, I will take my statement back. If in your opinion the picture was enhanced, well you are entitled to it. Personally, what you have shown is far from what I would consider an enhanced photo, but whatever.........I don't see any real color in either shot.
What attacks? Seems to me that Fatman is entitled to his opinion based on his experience. Seems like you should have first found out first if Fatman had any history with him before accusing him of having no idea of what he is talking about. Again, I do not consider fatmans' picture to have any real color at all. After viewing his photo, I still consider fatman to have no idea as to what he is talking about, although he could added 'in my opinion'. You don't think there are attacks on these boards? Yea, right, whatever.
On my screen Fatman's reverse pictures look very different. Since Fatman provided both pictures I assume he is showing us the actual pictures as he states. I conclude greattoning pictures did not show true colors, meaning enhanced.
Now back to the topic of the thread. I think it is a big negative when a dealer sells NTC slabs.

I really agree with this- I like Russ' approach in that he refuses to handle any coins in their holders. Too much negative perception comes along for the ride when a dealer starts to handle things like ntc and nnc. As far as greattoning goes, I think I've purchased about 8 or 9 morgans from him in the past. Of the nine, I would say that 8 have been either as good as the pictures, or slightly better. One morgan did not look like the picture enough, but I still liked it enough to keep it. I think that when someone sells a large inventory of toned coins, it can be difficult to image every one as they exactly appear....
My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable !
Fatman, if you were very disappointed in the coin, why didn`t you return it to Dick? The 2 coins I bought from him were nicer than his pictures and I was very happy.

To use another famous word here, it's a "Widget" and not worth the hassle. I don't return coins, I stop buying from the dealer.
"there are no "Attacks" within this thread. Seems like someone doesn't appreciate a "well respected member" having his wares and his policies and tactics questioned.
I just question whether this is the proper forum to 'discuss' another forum members wares, policies and tactics without trying a pm first. Why not ask Dick yourself? If I had a question for you, especially one that involved your integrity, I would use the pm first. I guess I just feel as forum members we are all part of a large, dysfunctional family
It would be all fun and games if it was some unknown though.....right?

I know how I feel, I state it, and stand behind it unless otherwise educated.
Forum member or not, my original post expressed my level of discomfort with one particular auction and coin, with no other information in evidence at the time.
And like it or not, I dont care for Fly-By-Night™, Inc. holders, and won't personally buy AND resell them. If the coin is OK, I'll buy it - and set it free.
I have purchased at least 5 coins from Greattoning and sent checks for each. I was and still am very pleased with each and everyone and they were all toners with accurate pictures and descriptions. It not my job nor anyone else's on these boards to decide which coins he should or should not sell........quite asinine to assume as much in my opinion. If you don't like his fee structure or what he is selling by all means walk away and spend your hard earned cash elsewhere....no one can fault you there.
As for Fatman's issue with the coin he purchased.......he has the coin in hand and his opinion is all that maters since it's his coin. What I see from the two scans is one is a color shot (Greattonings) and Fatman's is a luster shot.....there is no way the two would ever look the same because most of us can't accurately capture color and luster in the same shot....typically just one or the other.
