I'm Overwhelmed, or A Coin Collectors Heaven.

Previous to Thanksgiving, I spent some time with my parents, in a house they share with my 85-ish grandmother.
Dad had heard of my recent coin "phase" and asked if I could look at some of his coins. Hell yeah, I'm on it. He went off to play darts, and I sat there with my mother and grandmother looking through my fathers coins. Not anything really special, mostly stuff he won off coin boards at the Legion or the Elks. Morgans, Peace, some ASE's. Most of the olser stuff had obviously been cleaned and were, by my opinion, mostly AU or less. Did have one 1998 or 1999 $5 cold piece. He thought it was a "gold dime"...
As I'm talking to my mother about values, and why the value it what it is, my grandmother says "hold on..". She disappears for a few minutes and comes back with a shoe box. A shoe box FULL OF COINS!!!!!! UGH.
I go through the box. Little of this, little of that. I try not to squeal out everytime she opens a new envelope, roll, or jar. I keep fairly quiet, as I know my grandmother and her attachment to things. That box gone through, comments made, I move back to my fathers stuff. She disappears AGAIN and comes back with ANOTHER shoe box!!!! UGH!!
Long story short, I'm not sure how many boxes she brought out, nor do I know where they all came from. I grew up in that house, spent a good part of my life there. Had NO IDEA all that was there.
And now, what to do with it all.
I'm talking jars of Lincoln cents, Merc dimes, Rosies, Kennedys, Liberty dimes, Liberty Quarters,Walking Liberty Halves, Morgans, Peace Dollars. Even some Darkside stuff.
Some of them taped up in pieces of paper with each three of each type coin with the names of the three kids written on the outside. Some with pieces of tape on the face of the coin itself with a date or a name, when they got it, and either who from, or who it goes to. I've got a fantastic 1921 Morgan sitting here, great color and gotta go at least MS64, but with a HUGE piece of tape covering most all of Liberty's head.
Gram wouldn't let me take them all. Probably not a bad thing. Would have spent to much time pleasuring myself and not enough time eating, drinking, sleeping, etc.
I did bring home a few coins. Some 1921 Morgan/Peace Dollars, some with some interesting die cracks, few other odd dates. Gotta get that VAM book. Nice roll of '64-'68 Kennedy's. And a few Darkside coins I thought were interesting.
SOoooo, I've gotta research what I've got, figure out if worth slabbing/keeping and hope I can get my hands on the rest. SOON.
Guess I've found a new reason to spend more time with the family.

an old hoard. Seems like things just keep jumping out the more you look
through them.
<< <i> Would have spent to much time pleasuring myself and not enough time eating, drinking, sleeping, etc. >>
Way too much information here.
<< <i>Fresh deals are always fun even if it is mostly junk! >>
Some of it is certainly 'junk', but it's gonna take awhile to sort out the 'junk' from the gems.
Anyone have a good online resource, preferably with pics, for VAM's? I have a funny feeling this part will take up most of my time.
Thanks,
Marc

Even though I don't collect VAMS, you can try here RJRC for some VAM links.
Also, this is a great site to use for the other coins.
