You are 'right on' with your comment about prices on tough 1959 Topps baseball being high. I have reaped the benefits of that with some strong sales on ebay on '59's recently, but it is killing me when I bid on some tough ones out there now. I am bidding $300-$400 on a few that I still need (I am within a dozen cards of all 8's and 9's) and I am regularly being outbid. There are no less than five strong bidders out there buying everything they can get their hands on.
I recently lost out on a '59 Hoak PSA 8 that went for damn near $500. I see that you are hanging on for a Fitzgerald and good luck!!

1 Piece at a time my friend, 1 piece at a time. Now if you really want to go head to head with the evil empire i have a 73 set at almost a 9 gpa at 90% just behind the evil one. Yours at a fair price Was 73 the last year for vintage or how did that go? Also i think i have enuff of those missing puzzle pieces to come real close to finishing some of your puzles up. 1 PIECE AT A TIME
You're getting closer--1973 is better than a puzzle set--think like taking the cards out of your late 50s-60s sets that will make mine have a higher set rating. Those are the missing puzzle pieces I care about--or maybe thats what you were referring to???
I asked the guy who has the #1 62 set and he didn't know where this pop 1 card was either.
Jim,
Nice to know I made an impression on you!

FYI, I don't think Rabbi has the Landrum PSA-8 as Ruby is listed as the #4 Set on the Registry and does not include the Landrum card.
By way of background, Ruby won this set in a Superior Auction, as I recall for $30,000+/- . The lot had 580 PSA-8s and needed 18 cards to complete the set. In addition to the Landrum card, the set was missing the #1 Maris as well as the always-difficult-to-find-last-card-in-the-set which in this case is the #598 Rookie Parade card which included first-year N.Y. Met Woodie Hickman. A #1 Maris has subsequently been added to the set. The consignor was Howard Tiss who is on the all-time finest list at #6.

Further research as to the whereabouts of the Landrum PSA-8 reveals it was sold by set-builders back in 2004 for $629.99.

BTW, I would agree bidding for this card will be spirited when offered; I would have thought we would have seen the pop increase by now based on demand for this card and the premium it would bring at auction.
Jim, good luck on completing your quest and hope the above is helpful.
I'm simply surprised that a Landrum has not turned up from one of the Presentation sets. I easily acknowledge that 1962 Topps is a tremendously difficult set. I just would have guessed that with a dozen or two Presentation sets broken up and graded out over the years that there would have been at least one Landrum!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
Marc, you are right about the presentation sets...and I believe that SGC graded a few of them early on (Mark Schwenke's set on the SGC registry has quite a few presentation set cards in it).
I took a look at the SGC pop report and they have graded 3 cards total...and all 3 were SGC-88's. So, there are a couple more high grade examples running around. My guess is that these cards reside in their "old holders", so may or may not cross.

I think the prices of some of the tough 59s are pretty incredible too.

Dav i could be talked into letting a few puzzle pieces go your way. My ears are always open
I was hoping for a bit more than that!
Its going to take more than puzzle pieces to defeat the evil empire in the 60s.
Mike-Couldabeena--conated his 10.0 63 Stancraft set--I was hoping for a similar act of charity.

I spoke to Mike Rakosi and he believes the Rabbi sold his entire 62 set in pieces but is checking to be sure.
Don,
I just won the Fitzgerald for $400 even--which I think was my limit--I guess I'm happy but not sure.

just checking
Thank you and I'm sorry I did not refer to you by name--of course I remember our conversations.
Setbuilders(Joe) recollected he sold it for less than the amount stated--he also sold it to the Rabbi.
Rakosi is checking with the Rabbi for me.
