REHOLDER AT GRADE SERVICE??

Lets say you have a nice toned Morgan in a NGC slab at ms63 or 64 that you would like to get in a PCGS slab for whatever reason. Since the value of the coin lies more in the toning than the grade for a common date Morgan do you think it would be ok for PCGS to just reholder the thing at grade for a $8 or $10 fee [or at least have a finalizer pass judgement on it] rather than go to the time and expense of submitting the thing as a crossover or cracked out?

BAJJERFAN,
In case it wasn't a typo, you can't "reholder" an NGC coin at PCGS. You can attempt a crossover, but not a reholder.

YES I know that. You can't now but I was sorta proposing a new service if you will. It could be called the super reholder or the super crossover. There is not a big price difference between a 1884-O Morgan in ms 63 and one in ms 64. I would expect a similar price difference if the same coin was toned. No reason why a 1884-O Morgan in a NGC holder couldn't be just reholdered at PCGS based on one man's review. I have a number of coins I would like to get in PCGS holders but not at current wait times and cost.
<< <i>What you would do in that case is send it as a crossover at any grade. They'll pass judgement on authenticity before cracking it out so you won't wind up with a raw coin in a bodybag, then crack and grade it. >>
The point is that I don't want to pay $30 a pop and wait 2 months to crossover a common coin. I have some coins I would like in PCGS plastic but not at current prices and wait times. I'm willing to pay a little but not current prices.
<< <i>$30 would be for regular service - 15 days guaranteed. Or you could send it Economy, $18. Either way it is not $30 and wait two months. >>

I was close enough the first time.
What you are asking for is not available from any grading service. The crossover service from PCGS is your only option if you submit the coin in a grading service holder.

I am fully aware that such a service is not currently offered by any of the services but, I can see no reason why it could not or should not be offered.

It aint happen........
Here is such a widget. I would like it in a PCGS holder but not at current costs.
That 85 looks better than some 65's I have seen come out of PCGS lately- send it in wait the 60 days @18 bucks or sell it to me- I'll send it in.
You know I like a good fight.
