The transitive property and The Circle of (numismatic) Trust™

If collector/dealer A completely trusts collector/dealer B, and collector/dealer B completely trusts collector/dealer C, does it follow that collector/dealer A should completely trust collector/dealer C? I have two very recent tests of my comfort level here.

    Not necessarily.

If A trusts B and B trusts C, then it is a given that A should trust C, assuming that the level of trust that A has for B is commensurate with the level of trust that B has for C, which, in turn, should dictate the level of trust that A should have with C.

Good point. If the level of trust is asymmetric, that is A trusts B more than B trusts C, you end up with the (Bermuda) Triangle of Trust™, in which coins can tend to mysteriously disappear.

Hmmm....this seems like a good opportunity to promote my Concentric Circles of Trust™ and Tree Of Trust™ aka Trust Tree™ ideas. If the collector/dealers are in the same concentric circle or the same trust branch and they (either together or separately) vouch for a 3rd collector dealer, assuming their qualifications for their personal Concentric Circles of Trust™ schema are the same as yours then the person can automatically occupy a position in the identical concentric circle (or on the same branch of the Trust Tree™) and therefore be given all of the same opportunities, privledges, etc. of other persons occupying the same CCT™ level. :^)

There's a transvestite problem in The Circle of (numismatic) Trust™?

We don't WANT transvestites in numismatics! We can't trust them! How can you trust them? They spend their lives deceiving everyone!

    They...they...oh...wait a minute...TRANSITIVE...well now, that's something completely different...

    Never mind...

Trust is generally built between two parties, not awarded. What you have in this case is an excellent reference to begin the relationship which allows you to initially transact within a wider comfort zone. Complete trust will only come after repeated successes.IMHO

If object A is in thermal equilibrium with object B and object B is in thermal equilibrium with object C, then object A is in thermal equilibrium with object C.

    Thermodynamics 101.

    Yes, A trusts C
