Chris Carpenter
Congrats to Chris. IMO, it wasn't even debatable as it may have been in the AL this year.
1st Cardinal since the great Bob Gibson to win.

Remember these Chuck Norris Facts
1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

"Following a loss to Boston on June 8, Carpenter went on one of the most amazing runs baseball has seen in quite a long time. In each of his next 16 starts, Carpenter lasted at least seven innings and allowed no more than three earned runs, and the Cardinals won all 16 games. He totaled 17 straight starts without the Cardinals losing, and 18 in a row without being charged with a defeat himself."
Unreal.
Congrats.

Are you talking about a Cy Young set on the registery? If you are, is the correct card considered the year AFTER the award? Same with MVP's?
I don't have any graded ones, but I have an MVP set and a Cy Young set current down to 1975 (which is my birth year). Not a big deal, but I have them neatly displayed and it's a cheap set to collect. The only thing is that my cards are from the actual year that they won the award.
Just wondering how the registery does it, it that's what you were talking about.

I use the following years card for a set that i have been working on since around 1979. I go back to 57 for the cy youngs
1947 for the ROY
and for MVP i use 61 for AL and 62 for the NL..........expansion yrs.
I always used the followng yrs card as it shows the stats for the award winner.
2 years ago i began the fireman of the yr award and go back to when that award was established.
It is also a nice way of seeing how topps cards have changed over the years.
I have the cards in a deluxe album........raw
edited to add: not sure how the reg does it. i assume they use the actual yr. thus you would need the 05 carp.
In 1956 newcombe was the winner thus i use his 57 card and so on.
the only card i have slabbed is the Robinson Rookie. In this instance I had to use a card 2 years after the fact (his 49 bowman)

Nice Robinson. Why did it just get a 2. Looks nicer from the scan.
At one time had the MVP's down to 1962. I got the idea from the KMart box set that I have had since I was a kid. I always thought it would be neat to have the real cards. So I got them. Then a couple of years ago, I needed some quick money, so I sold the expensive ones up to 1975. Now, I just have down to 1975, because that's the year I was born. I had thought about doing the ROY. I may start.
Also, (since the pride of my collection is team set oriented - every Cardinals team set in Topps from 1951 to now, and vintage Bowman from 1948 to 1955, plus a bunch more), I have thought about doing team sets of every World Series winner, at least down to 1975. That shouldn't be to expensive. I just don't know whether or not to do the actual year, or the next year.

I always have preferred using the following year.
ROY I use the following year or in the case of Robby I had to use 2 yrs later.
This example graded a 2 cuz it had a hairline crease (upper right hand border) that someone had tried to flatten out. I bought the card from ebay dealer Yorktown sports who specializes in slabbed cards. That should have told me somthing, especially when he graded it ex/mnt or better. In any event it is a decent card that presents well.
Good luck on the subsets you are considering.
