I got my first Sample Slab in the mail yesterday!

I really think some of these sample slabs are neat. This is a NGC 38. 2,000 of them were made and signed by the designer of the Florida quarter Ralph Butles.

I don't really think that is a sample slab. Sample slabs have the word "SAMPLE" somewhere on them. That looks more like a commemorative slab.

  • That is a sample slab and it is listed as NGC 38 on my website. Congrats on your first sample slab! You got a goood one for your first one. PM me your address and I will send you a ICG 27 free of charge. (They were maade about 2 years ago for my website - I can't sell samples now but I can give you one)

  • Cameron lists it as a Sample Slab, it will be listed in my second edition as an Advertising Slab. I have two of them. An early signed one where he was using his full name like yours, and a later one where by that time he was getting tired of it and only used his first initial and last name.

Perryhall might be right though. A better name for these might be Commemorative Slab.

The reason I suggested "Commemorative slab" is that it obviously commemorates the 50th anniversary FUN show.

  • I saw those running around at FUN but didn't get one for myself image I really like the look of the orange label though image

    Cool
I picked one of these up in Michigan (had to pay $5), but I never knew exactly what it was and the significance of the autograph...

  • Once you start buying smaple slabs your only a couple of steps away from being a stamp collector!

Well, I think they're interesting and it does contain a coin inside. Your entitled to your opinion but I like them.

Also, what's wrong with being a stamp collector. image

I kinda like sample slabs, but I'd never admit it on a Coin Forum.
