1909S VDB from Whitman book...

Which has been in the book for over 2 decades. Trying to figure out the swirly marks, seems to have toned over something old. Opinions?

The white lines are from the dirty glass in my scanner.
<< <i>Here’s mine. I sent it to ANACS and it came back with “Whizzed” on the label.

Doesn't look whizzed to me but looks dipped due to the dull orange color. Nice coin though!
<< <i>whats whizzed mean? >>
Whizzed describes the doctoring of a coin by moving metal, to imitate mint luster. It generally disturbs the flow lines of the metal created in the minting process. It's not good, and can be very deceptive if done well.
For more info visit http://www.pcgs.com/articles/article2341.chtml for a breif article. Google the term for more in-depth information.
And yes, a good scanner will take perfectly acceptable images of coins, although I find them somewhat less convenient. A camera, I have found, is easier and takes generally more consistant images once the white balance is set correctly.
Hope that helps.

whizzing is hard to see by a scan but the color is definately off and under a loupe I bet you will see moved metal on the high points from the whizzing.
