1799 Silver Dollar, PCGS EF-40

Looking for a great early type coin? You have found it! This 1799 silver dollar has great surfaces and attractive toning. PCGS graded EF-40, and it is "all there" with plenty of eye appeal. The obverse is well struck with lots of eye appeal. The reverse shows some weakness in the are of the eagle's head because the die was failing (sinking) when this coin was struck. There is still a full "E Pluribus Unum" however.

The variety is Bolender-7. According to Dave Bowers' book, this piece is close to as good as this variety comes. According to Bowers are quite a few EF graded coins, but virtually no Mint State pieces.

The price is $4,100 + $12 for Registered Mail.
