My 1946-P Lincoln DDO is NEW Discovery Piece

After a Burn Out week trucking, got home today to find a e-mail from Billy G. Crawford to whom I sent my Anacs Certified DDO Lincoln Cent that Anacs could not attributed as they had NO CLEAR MATCH IN WEXLER OR CRAWFORD. He had thought it might be an example of his CDDO-002 but upon examination stated: yours is much stronger that that listing in my files. In fact--yours is a quadrupled die obverse(QDO) and I can see 4 hubbings on the lower portion of the digit"4" of the date. It is a ClassII+VI and is one of the strongest I have seen and can easily compare with the 1943 1c Strong Class VI variety. Strong notching and division lines are also readily visible on the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST. He also stated" Here's also something that might surprise you and even ANACS missed this! Your coin also exhibits a nice DOUBLE DIE REVERSE (ddr)! It shows a very nice ClassII+VIII on the entire left side of the reverse. Notching and separation can be seen on the letter "E" and 1st dot of EPU, the letter "C" of cent and the letter "U" of UNITED. Notching and separation lines can also be readily seen on the entire left wheat ear and kernels. Your coin will be a new listing in my Crawford "C" files assinged as 1946 1c CDDO-004+CDDR-003.He will be taking photos and will be sending me a scan of them when complete. This about blew me over when I read this FANTASTIC NEWS. To top off my day of great news I received a e-mail that my submission was complete from PCGS. Submission results:
1958-P 25c MS65
1958-D 25c MS65
1944-D 1c MS66 RED
1944-S 1c MS67 RED My first 67 raw submission in a Wheat Cent
1951-P 1c MS66 RED NGC 65 crackout
1958-D 1c MS66 RED
1963-D 1c MS65 RED Went through a lot of rolls to find this BEAUTY
1973-S $1 MS66

I will Post pictures of the New DDO/DDR when I receive the scans from Mr. Crawford. A very Greatful THANK YOU to Mr. Billy G. Crawford for Attributing this coin for me and the service he and Mr. Wexler do for the collecting community. It has truly been a wonderful JOY collecting experience this year for me. To have been able to have a Pop Top Only One (1922-Weak/D Lincoln Cent PCGS MS-64 RED) which I sold at Heritage Signature Sale at Central States in St Louis in June. I wanted a PCGS example for my registry but PCGS wouldn't allow it in the set. So I sold it and bought a 64 red for the set. This latest find is just the Crowning Achievement in Collecting that I hope will inspire all who collect or would like to start collecting, that great opportunities to find rarities are still possible.imageimage

  • Thanks for all the appreciated responses. Watersport Thanks for the response. That is why I posted the thread so others can also look for this great DDO/DDR cent hopefully more of them will be found. The one that I received I bought quite a while back in a MS-65 NTC holder thinking that it might upgrade, but I didn't think it would when I received it, so left it alone for a long time. Then one day I checked it as the date looked quite different than most other dates of that year. I Finally sent it in,after cracking it out, to verify it and they agreed that it was a DDO at the same 65 red level. The New Discovery is just the topping on the cake. Ellwood thank for the complement on my registry set also. My favorite is my One per date SET as it has many undergraded GEM Premium Quality coins in it, that blow my higher grade coins in my regular sets away. This is my FUN set that I truly enjoy adding great looking coins in, even if I drop in rankings. That is what collecting is all about having FUN and enjoying the thrill of obtaining GREAT LOOKING coins. Again to all THANKS. I'll be posting Pic's of the DDO/DDR when I receive them. Mike.image
