The Morgan Dollar Textbook by Wayne Miller. It's a classic and still worth the read.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Go to this link and you'll find some great Morgan Dollar Books.

I would highly recommend The Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollars by Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis.

It contains tons of information about the history of Morgan Dollars, how they were minted, counterfeit detection, die varieties, ect.

Thanks Guys! This is exactly what I was looking for! image

    Had another question:
Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States: A Complete Encyclopedia, I would only been interested in Volume 2 about Morgans, but I was wondering what the deal is with the price?
It must be some good info? imageimage
    Thanks again,

Don't forget the Morgan Dollar Red Book, which is an in-depth introduction to the series by Bowers.

The Bowers Encyclopedia is the Grand Daddy of all coin books!

It has a huge amount of information about silver dollars, their development, their life and times, their historical auction prices, etc. The book is awesome and was so much work for Bowers that it'll never be updated or revised (which is why he put out his Silver Dollar Action Guide and, now, the Morgan Dollar Red Book).

I think it has everything you need to know, except a grading guide and information about die marriages (which are in the VAM book).

Check out the Southern Gold Society

If you wanted to buy only one book about Morgans -- and learn from it forever -- it would be Bowers' Encyclopedia. Yes, it costs a ton. Yes, it's worth it.
    When in doubt, don't.
