I will be there Bob. Friday for sure, and, pending my wife's approval, Sunday as well. Do you set up?

  • Hey Dave,

I set up at the last one because 4 tables presented themselves. This time just going for the show. See some buds and have a couple days away from the grind. As of right now we're heading up Friday morning and leaving Sunday morn. So I'll be there Friday night and Saturday.

If you know Gerry Chartrand ask for me there as I plan on seeing him first. Great guy.

I assume that is Gerry as in Jason and Gerry? He has some very nice stuff; don't ever recall buying anything off of him though. Hope to meet you Bob. I know that Knuckles will be set up selling and taking orders for his cut sigs. Anybody else?

  • Hope to run into you there David.

I'll definitely be stopping by Garret's table also.

Gerry is Jason's dad of Gerry's Sportscards. He is one of my favorite sellers and a standup guy to boot. Check his table out when you are there. I'm sure he'll have some incredible OPC stuff as usual.

Anyone else going? It would be great to say hi to a few of the guys.

    Edited for typos.

    Bob-
Still trying to figure out if I can get the time to go. If I do, would be a pleasure to meet you and any other forumites in attendance.

Gerry is a lying two face. I've caught him lying and doing other than he said on numerous occasions. He's also a holder cracker. His stuff is usually low end of that grade because he resubmits.
  • I will probably attend on the Sunday as I find that sellers seem to be more motivated to move product than on the Friday or Saturday. I will definately drop by to meet you Knuckles as I have a couple of Ken Dryden sig's for you to look at.

Bob, unfortunately it sounds like you will be gone by then, it would have been great to meet a fellow 62' Parkie collector. Maybe next time.

As far as Gerry Chartrand and his son Jason, they have always been very friendly and professional with me. They are by far the best dealer I have encountered in all my years in the hobby. We as hockey collectors are fortunate to have them around as far as I am concerned. I also have never received what I would consider an "overgraded " card from them.

    Have a great day.

I have to echo Rob's comments on Gerry & Jason Chartrand. They are by far the best dealers I have had the opportunity to do business with in all my years collecting.

    Best,
    Ray

I've never had one problem with Gerry, raw or slabbed. He is top notch.
  • Wonder Cards & Comics/Roy Datema will be there. I will be set up in the first row, right side, about the 6th table. I moved up from the the back of the room. I will be there mostly to buy, but i always bring with me requested cards/years in baseball/hockey, and a few boxes of nice vintage cards. Sales have been pretty good in the back of the room. Hope everyone can find me quicker in the front before they run out of money, or sell their cards too cheap to the first couple tables! It is one of the best shows around as the people are great, and show format is easily one of the most collector friendly. Stop by and chew the fat with me. I always learn a lot from everyone on their areas of expertise!
    Go Jolly!

    Hello hockey fans,

I saw the post and wanted to tell you that I have a psa 5 1923 William Patterson v145-1 Frank Nighbor # 2 on ebay, as well as a Clint. Benedict psa 4 under my user ID bkritz. The Nighbor is the highest one ever graded by psa!

FREE insured shipping to any psa board member in the spirit of set building camraderie.

I just purchased a large psa/SGC hockey collection that will be going up on ebay over the next few months, so check me out if you have the time.

I do not mean to hijack the thread, I just thought that a lot of the pre-war hockey guys would check in here!

    Thanks and happy collecting.

No problems with Gerry Chartrand either. I've bought numerous cards off him over the years and the service has always been A class.

I do not hesitate to recommend him in any circles...
  • Gerry Chartrand is a top notch dealer and a top notch guy. I deal with Gerry on a weekly basis and exchange emails with him almost daily. Part of the reason I go to Toronto is to shake the mans hand and see him in person. If there were more guys like Gerry in the hobby we'd all be better off.

As for the Expo...hope to see you all there. Maybe Garret wouldn't mind if we all checked in at his table since we're all stopping by there to see his cut creations. Thanks in advance Garret. image

I'm thinking perhaps we could sack out on the floor of Garrett's hotel roomimage Actually, I would prefer the bed; Garrett seems a decent fella, I am certain he wouldn't mind taking the floor in my place.

  • Is that this weekend? Sounds like I'm going to miss a great party. Oh well, this is (now don't laugh) "Pumpkin Show" here in Circleville, Ohio. Kids coming in for it. Our town goes from 12,000 to over 500,000 for the 4 days. And on Saturday night I get to take my son (he's 30) to the Columbus/Detroit hockey game. Great memories of my dad taking me to Detroit games growing up!!!!!!!

Tip one for me guys and have a GREAT time!
  • Buckeye

The show is not this weekend, it is being held Nov 11th - 13th. ( Friday - Sunday ).

With all this ribbing I'd have bet money he would have posted here by now. He must be burning the midnight oil getting ready for the expo.
