No Love for Jimmy Rollins?

He's only put together a huge hitting steak...33 games including tonights.

I know it's a long ways away from the all-time record, but still, hitting in 33 consecutive games is amazing.

I didn't know it was still going. They brought it up on one game that I was watching that if he ends the season with it in tact it carries over. I always thought that it didn't.

First, let me say that I love what Joe Dimaggio did, but when I reserached his streak, it should be noted that at least on two instances, the streak was kept alive by a very friendly scorekeeper at Yankee Stadium. What should have been errors were scored as hits by the Yankee scorekeeper - who was also a friend of DiMaggio's.

So if Rollins does it, it will be even more impressive given the media coverage sports receives today.

    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
    3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

2 more games...up to 35, all while his team is in the middle of a playoff push.

It must be unreal to have both the pressure of the streak and the team in the middle of the mix too.

Wow, thanks for bringing this up. I just realized this guy is getting next to no pub for the 35 game hitting streak. I guess he picked a bad time of the year to do it with the pennant races going on...
  • Question...

If by chance the man does somehow pull this out, which I don't think he will, will they continue to carry the steak over through next year? And if by some chance in hell it were to happen, should an "*" be placed next to the stat?

To me, if he does it in consecutive seasons, it should count. I don't believe that it was counted against Gagne when his save streak extended from one season to the next.

I think if he hits in tomorrow's game, and the first 20 next year, he should get the record, no questions or asterisks at all.
