That was a misplay, since it was neither dated 1829 nor a Bust half dime, but it is such a drop-dead gorgeous circ that we'll roll with it.
Technically the foul should go to me, since I realize now that the denomination of that dug 1829 5c I posted before it was not immediately apparent to the casual observer.
Let's resume play from CommemKing's post: 1830 or Bust Half Dime.
Originally posted by: lordmarcovan No, TO- that's an awesome LIBEKTY, but next play is supposed to be 1830 or Capped Bust half dime, if we're playing from CommemKing's coin.
You're changing the rules again.
It used to be the same date or denomination. See page 1.

Nope. It is YOU who is apparently trying to change the rules.
It has been same DATE or same TYPE since the very beginning.
(Same DATE or same COUNTRY for non-US coins.)
That text in Rule 1 of the OP (which still clearly states as always NOT just same denomination) has never been changed.
The recent edit was mere housekeeping. I fixed the dead OP coin image (which went bad around the forum software switch), and removed the obsolete "dialuppers beware!" message in the title. Not much else.
Play on!

Can someone post a newer British sovereign and get us out of the early 1800's, or does it have to be this specific type of gold sovereign that is only up to 1837 as an option?
Can someone post a newer British sovereign and get us out of the early 1800's, or does it have to be this specific type of gold sovereign that is only up to 1837 as an option?
From the OP:
HOW TO PLAY:
1. If the last coin posted was a regular-issue U.S. coin, you have to post a coin of the same date OR the same type (NOT just the same denomination).
-US commemoratives, Hard Times and Civil War Tokens, or patterns can be considered all one "type". So if the last person posted a 1920 Pilgrim half dollar, for example, you may play any US commemorative coin OR anything dated 1920. Likewise, an 1863 Civil War token could be followed by any other Civil War token or any coin at all dated 1863.
2. If the last coin posted was a foreign coin, you have to post a coin of the same date OR from the same country (type or denomination do not matter in this case.)
-If you post a non-US coin, though, be sure to type in the country, since the next player might not be familiar with it, and will need to know where to play from. Please, no undated pieces like tokens or ancient and medieval coins. (Much as I love 'em, they don't have a place here).
3. Dual- or triple- dated coins (like Bicentennial issues, for example) are sort of "wild cards" for the next player.
For example, if I post a "1776-1976" Bicentennial quarter, the next person has three options: he or she may post a Washington quarter OR a 1976-dated coin OR a 1776 dated coin.

Type is irrelevant for a foreign coin. It's just date or country for non-US stuff.
In play is 1832 orany British coin.
And so I will play a British coin, but it puts us even earlier into the 1800s.
But now when the Litesiders get the ball again, maybe we'll see some cool Draped Bust coins.
The next p!ay should now 1806 or any British coin.

Playing off CommemKing's 1830 Capped Bust half dime.
1830 Netherlands ducat.
So, with the Darkside shift (same DATE or same COUNTRY next), we're at:
1830 or Netherlands to the next player.
