    1787 or Mexico, next.

    This is the other half-real I found detecting near the site of General Oglethorpe’s villa, the morning after I dug that 1776 mentioned in my previous post.

    Since the two were found so near each other, they probably fell from the same pocket.

    But since the Machin’s Mills pieces are nominally “British” coins (by virtue of having BRITANNIA on them and conforming to the earlier British types, even if they are technically American), the play could be interpreted as 1787 or Great Britain.

    So the 1938 British penny posted above does qualify, if only by a technicality. (As thread author, I’ll put on my referee hat and declare it valid.)

    So the next play is 1938 or Great Britain.
