Most Underrated player in the NFL?

My Vote... Jimmy Smith

Once he retires he will be in the top 10 of most recieving catagories.

    Marvin Harrison.

With the 2 media darlings in Moss and TO, and his quiet, unassuming demeanor, his accomplishments get overlooked frequently.

Trails Smith by less than 100 yards, but has done it in 2 years' worth of games less.

Harrison is 6th all time (already) in receiving TDs (and will easily move into third this season). If he has three more 1000 yard seasons (he could easily do that) he'll move to third all time in receiving yards as well.

Warrick Dunn produces week in and week out in relative obscurity...

Jimmy Smith is a druggy so you can't count on him. Harrison and Dunn are good picks. I would add Curtis Martin to that list
two, he will bounce back from week 1.

Of course then there is Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber..always on top of their games!

Brooks won defensive player of the year...he's far from underrated.

Since we're focusing on recievers (Smith, Harrison) I'll bring up Isaac Bruce. More TD's then Smith and more yards then both Smith and Harrison. Everyone writes him off each year saying he is getting too old, but he's actually younger then Harrison.
  • Curtis Martin doesn't get much praise, which is odd, being f/NY.

Steeler fans know what kind of player he is, but I don't think Hines Ward gets the recognition from the rest of the league. He never seems to take a play off - he blocks and hits with the best of them, and puts up big offensive numbers as well.

  • Chicago Bears strong safety Mike Brown is consistently among the league's best in causing turnovers......and because he plays for the Bears, almsot nobody outside of Chicago notices.

Bears LB Briggs also goes unnoticed, playing with Urlacher, but he is the real deal.
