  • I tried Julio Franco's bat pointing at the pitcher stance but realized I wasn't as strong as him and couldnt get my bat around fast enough. I settled with a Ryne Sandberg type swing. Very simple and efficient. None of the waggling nervous tick kinda approach ya see in some players.

Mattingly. I'd try the Strawberry high leg lift if we were playing around.

Carl Yastrzemski. I copied his stance, and swing, exactly. Even wore his number 8 when I played Little League.

Rickey Henderson...with that super low slung stance, although I did copy a bit of Carew with the bat parallel to the ground to drive it better.

I also use to copy the Yaz stance
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • I can't explain why, but I copied Tony Perez when I was in Little League and still do when I play softball.

A right handed George Brett. His homer at Yankee Stadium to beat the Yanks in 1980 was very cool.
  • Dwight Evans. Picture Tony Esposito holding a bat. image

    Griffey Jr
    image
  • Vintage stance- Roberto Clemente
    Modern stance- Ken Griffey Jr.
  • always loved griffey's swing. toony phillips had a unique stance....as did ripken. i tried to emulate bags stance...how he's played 14 years of ball with that stance is remarkable.
  • Ready to laugh, Mickey Tenttleton. No Joke, still do on the occasional softball game.
I'll tell you what to do.
    Go that way.
    Really fast.
If something gets in your way, turn.
  • Sadly enough, i'll admit. Todd Zeile. Hands down by the waist.
Throw in a pair of Chris Sabo Rec-Specs i was very intimidating in LL.
