Bonds out for 2005 season

Bonds is Out

We've been hearing it for some time, but I guess it is true now due to swelling in his knee. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but isn't it very coincidential that Bonds has this season long injury in the first full season of steroid testing? Hmmm.....

If he was active and tested positive, it would surely be a black eye for baseball since he is one of the premiere stars. No one really cares if Palmeiro got busted, but Bonds would be another story and you can bet that millions of $$$$ would be at stake.

For months now, all of us have asked the obvious...."Why isn't a big name busted for roids testing?" Now baseball answered our question with Palmeiro, and left the huge megastars on the "do not touch list".

So where are the Sosa results? Pudge results? Or did they randomly sample Palmeiro and leave others off the list? I must confess my ignorance on who gets selected for steroid testing other than it being random, but I'm sure many of us have the same questions.

Let's wait for 2006 for the best to return and shatter more records.

Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

Comments

  • kind of interesting how Bonds happened to miss the whole season after the steroid scandal with him broke.....hmmmmmm......(out of sight, out of mind).

Could it be that the average American forgives and FORGETS easily......

I agree with you 100%. This is far too coincidental after that firestorm erupted after his steroid usage became public. I would not be suprised if their has really been no operations on his knee at all and he just hobbles around on cruches all day whining about how the press has always hated him.......wouldn't be suprised if Bud Selig was not in on this whole "season long injury" as well......
  • someone here said "out of sight, out of mind." So true. So true indeed......

If Raffy got nailed, Bonds can't come back until he's totally clean.

I'm thinking 30 lbs lighter, smaller hat size and less HR production even if he does return?LOL

I find it quite strange that Bonds makes the decision to sit out the season the same day Raffy gets busted. Does he not want to get tested? Or is MLB trying to take the spotlight off the Raffy thing?

Wouldn't Bonds' sitting this season out have been a lot more useful yesterday before the trade deadline? I liken this to Ricky Williams retiring right before training camp starts.

Bonds knows he can't catch Ruth without the juice. Fat and sloppy Ruthy, still better than Arnold Bondsinator.

He doesn't seem like such a lock anymore to break the record, does he? He'll be, what - 42 next year? And, he'll need 53 more juiceless HR's to do this - which means he'll be at least 44 when this happens. I'd love to see him stop right now, and leave Ruth and Aaron in front of him, where they belong.

If he's smart (which we all question) he'd hang it up now. What more does he need to prove? His knees are wrecked, he is a member of the most exclusive group in baseball (700 home runs), and countless MVPs. He has more money than god, and even with his admittance to using steroids, is still revered in SF. What more does he want? Does he want to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, unable to have a catch with his kids?

agreed. my feeling on Bonds all along this year was that he got caught. MLB and Bonds then agreed to an "injury", and Bonds calls it quits. Both parties save what little face they have, and then baseball gets clean.

collecting various PSA and SGC cards

  • I agree with the conspiracy theorists on this one.

What does Bonds want the most? To pass Babe Ruth and MLB knows this.

MLB gets the goods on Bonds but does not want to chance hurting the game by publicly punishing it's best(?) hitter. The parties agree that Bonds will sit out a season and will retire before breaking Ruth's record.

Speaking of wheelchairs, I guess Bonds figures if Sid Bream can round thrid in a wheelchair and score in a huge game, then he might
be still able for one last huraaah

I'm not sure about this, I think he's got some financial issues. There was the tax evasion scandal not to long ago and wasn't either his mistress or wife sucking a lot of money out of him?

I'm not so sure I agree with conspiracy people on this. If his knee was as bad as we had heard earlier in the season then I didn't really expect him back, but if that was all made up....

Well I think there is a lot of tax evasion that goes on by wealthy people. I mean it's what ultimately they busted Al Capone for, wasn't it? Looked up Bonds' career earnings on baseball-reference.com:

    Career (may be incomplete) $131,379,882

    $131 million!

    Ax

If you think only "rich people" evade/avoid taxes - think again - do you have any idea how many people are collecting workman's comp and working on jobs without claiming it?

How many people work "under the table" and don't claim income. Some are collecting unemployment?

It's big. So I wouldn't waste all that comtempt you have for that which you may aspire to attain. Heck, I wouldn't mind being rich right now?

On topic - I would love to believe the "Bonds retires" theories - they do make a lot of sense. I still think he hobbles out there next season and breaks Ruth's mark - and stops shy of Aaron.

I don't have contempt for the rich, nor am I naive enough to believe that just rich people avoid paying their fair share of taxes. My point was simply in response to the post that Bonds had been indicted for tax evasion. Looking up his payroll over his career, he has made over $130 million in just salary - no counting endorsements or the like.

    Good for you.
  • Bonds has been tested at least once this year already. Players on the DL are still eligible to be tested.
