Well, it has taken five years to get this coin which I consider a true VF. This date comes with a very strong LIBERTY and it is almost always overgraded. Fines are almost always passed off as VF and finding a true VF is quite difficult. I have an XF coin, but the damn thing is bent. The coin is not at all scarce in Fine and below, and as the last year of the New Orleans mint, you would think that people would have saved some examples. In MS it isn't terribly scarce, but VF-AU seems to be quite hard to find. The Barber quarter bears this out perfectly.
Five years it took me to find an original 1909-O to my liking. Just an excuse to post a picture more than anything.

Real nice, original looking coin, and a real tough date in VF. The coin looks free of any noticeable hits too, congrats on a great pickup.

Tyler,
Now that's what I call an original 09-O. Very nice and a true VF. The new Hub used in 1909 has caused alot of collectors to overgrade this date, because "Liberty" was impressed far better that year than in previous years.
Looks like a VF 30 to me. Nice score. I'm still wondering where in Utah you find these coins ? Another well kept secret.
It took me four years to find my AU55, so I know where you're coming from. I'm still looking for an untampered with 09-O quarter.
