I tried to buy your 42-d and 44-d, but I missed them by a day. Those were killer toned 67's! I hated missing them. Anyway, I hope you did well with the sale, really great coins.image

    Marc,

I wish I could say I had one of them, but like bennybravo, I came in a close second. image

When you only need 2 big-ticket coins to finish the set, additions are few and far between. I'm returning to my collecting roots, Lincoln cents, to get my coin-buying fix.

    Marc,

There are but a few left as most have been placed into new homes. I'm sorry Benny and Cocoinut missed on the pieces they wanted, but I sincerely appreciate their interest. You really had some wonderful coins Marc and have enjoyed imaging them and finding new homes for them.

Let me explain something about the registry..

The registry is ALL ABOUT MONEY.
I have been saying that since the first day the registry started.
Guys who have money, and there are lots of registry guys with tons of it..can keep their sets for many years...or just keep adding other sets..
Guys like me who don't have, need to sell and start another set or stop collecting.
I love my dimes, and If I could, would never sell them.
Same goes with my Morgan and Peace dollars I sold a few years ago.
I hated to sell them, but had to.
I am starting the complete US type set for a few reasons..
    Education.
I will learn about every single coin ever minted in this country.
That set will take years to complete, and hopfully will be a keeper...
Maybe by the time that set is finished,I will be one of the ones who "have" ,and will keep it forever...

Larry, your position might be contended by a select few, but it is honest and very well stated.

    Best, Mike.

    Larry!!!! I was just kidding!!!

I hope you didn't take it wrong....I think most of us know you are both collector and dealer (and a very fair one at that!!). I certainly don't begrudge your putting together an OUTSTANDING collection of Merc's with the ultimate intent of selling it........Heck, I'd like to have a chance to buy a few!!!!! Keep us Merc guys informed of your plans, and all the more power to ya'!!!

Some sell for a reason, Marc. Some sell to start something else, Larry. Some sell for personal reasons, a couple of our older members. And some sell just because interest and desire have waned, guess who.

    Cheers All.

    RAD,
no problem with you at all !

I just really get fried by these guys who have many many millions and put together # 1 sets..
    BFD

I give them alot of credit for making the money, but not for building top sets.

Give me millions and I can do it also....has nothing to do with skill or anything like that..
just millionaires who probably failed at sports or other competitive events, and the only way they get to pad their ego is with registry sets...
