Baseball Trivia: World Series Winners 1969-2004

Since I starting following baseball in 1969 I thought to myself could I name the 36 World Series winners from 1969-2004. I missed one. Can any of you name them without looking them up.

1984 Tigers against Gwynn and the Padres. I was rooting for the Padres even though I usually root for the AL team.

Steve, didn't the Yanks win it in 2000? vs the Mets?

    Yup...

    Yankees in 2000image

I also screwed up on 1971, picking the Orioles over the Pirates, and also 1985 where the Royals beat the Cardinalsimageimage

Funny...that is the only one I screwed up too, probably because the Orioles were favorites.

    1980 PHILLIES!!!!!

That's the only one I can remember.

<<and also 1985 where the Royals beat the Cardinals>>

I vividly remember that one too. St. Louis was up 3-1 but lost the series in 7 games. It was Brett's only WS ring.

85 was the Royals and 87 the Twins. The Cards only won in 82.

    good try.

in 1959 dodgers played the white sox and beat them
in 60 mazeroski's walk off hr beat the yanks, the yanks lost that series despite outscoring the bucs by a 4 to 1 margin if my memory serves me.
1961 the reds SWEPT the yanks, while in 62 the yanks beat the giants

in 57 and 58 the braves played the yanks winning one and losing one series

my earliest memory for a WS was the 63 series. koufax struckout 15 yanks, that record held until gibson k'd 18? tigers in 68

    edited for my usual typos
    Good for you.
  • I can remember memorizing the World Series winners back to 1903 when the World Series cards came out in 69 or 70 or whenever. Funny thing is that, now, I can name the winner of the 1925 World Series faster than I can name the winner of the 1995 World Series.
