<< <i>. I mean, I dont think I would care to see "Marinerography"

I wouldn't mind seeing that. That way i could find out how they got into the potty so fast.

Easy - a mind-boggling unwillingness to upgrade or replace older players and a complete and utter lack of hitting prospects in their farm system. Couple that with a meltdown of what was thought to be a #1 starter (Freddy Garcia), injuries to two other stud prospects (Gil Meche and Rafael Soriano), and Bret Boone coming off of steroids and you've got a franchise going into the tank.

The Mariners were one hitter away for like 3 straight years and refused to spend the $$$. Now they're, uh, a lot of hitters (and pitchers) away image

The Mariners yes, did indeed set the league record of 116 wins in a season.

Yes, they did lose to the yankees in the playoffs that year.

What's happened to them over the past couple of years is a combination of a team that grew old quickly (Boone, Edgar, etc.) and young pitching prospects not working out.

Hey it happens...but the Mariners have enjoyed a good, long run of success in the past 10 years or so. Typically 90 wins gets you into the posts season, and the M's had consecutive years of 93 wins that didn't get them to the postseason.

The M's have retooled the offense that was last last year with Beltre and Sexson. Beltre got off to a slow start, but has improved his game over the past 6 weeks or so. Sexson is quietly putting together a great year.

Do I wish the Mariners had finished that magical run in 2001 with a world series win, at least an appearance? Of course. Does it suck that they've had to rebuild the past few years? Of course.

Does it make me any less of a fan? Of course not.

It saddens me that 'fans' like WP base how worthy a team is by their world series wins...while real fans will love their team no matter what their wins or losses look like.

What saddens me is that you have no clue. what gave you the impression that I base a fans loyalty on WS wins?

I never made any such statement.
