ACTUAL GRADE: PCI (GOLD LABEL) MS60. (!?)
I personally call it AU58, with staple scratch on reverse noted. Still a lovely coin with lots of eye appeal, as I'm sure you'll agree.

Interesting.
<< <i>We have TWO "Grade the Trade" threads this afternoon. Check out fivecents' coin, too. >>
I gave yours a 63 too

I'll say AU55.
Do tell us why. (Seriously.)
I see AU58 and MS63 have been running neck-and-neck, which doesn't surprise me. If I didn't know the grade of the coin, my guess would probably be one of the two.
<< <i>5c: regardless of what the holders say, I think yours is higher than mine. >>
We shall see.

I PM'ed fivecents and basically said,
"Psst! I'll tell you the grade on mine if you tell me the grade on yours!"
So he did.
This is where it gets weird. Both coins have the same grade on their respective labels.
But it probably isn't what you think. (As of right now, nobody's guessed it.)
Of course, that's the labels.
Fivecents' coin is in a PCGS holder, and he's already given the hint that it's labeled MS.
My coin is in a different service's plastic, obviously.

I'm throwing a guess out there of 63... with a possible shot at 64.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...Then it's a 53.

that said, it is sharp to me. MS material. i will say a solid 60, chance 61.
thank you for posting.
The coin is in a PCI gold-label holder. Not the most reputable of services, but it appears to be an attractive coin, anyway. The scratches by the arrow tips on the reverse are apparently on the coin and not in the plastic, as I had initially thought. So it's probably a bodybag at either of the Big Two services.
The seller offered me an option to back out of the deal because of this, but I told him I wanted to see the coin anyway. Because it was a PCI gold label, I bought it as I would a raw coin, and I have no worries about selling it raw or in the PCI holder. It doesn't matter to me if it makes it into good plastic or not, really. I think the price was realistic.

fivecents' coin (1877)
So, which would YOU rather own? I don't mind you saying it: probably his. I might've gone with his, too. But I paid a little less for mine. And I like the toning on it. I guess they're both nice coins in their own way. His is probably gonna upgrade while mine will probably stay in the PCI holder.
Wish I had some spare cash, I'd try to steal that one from ya.
