"Turd on a Stick" vs. 2005 Lincoln cent in an ms 70 PCGS holder ?
What I am trying to do is convince people not to pay $2,685 for a 2005 Lincoln cent in 2005 or 2006.It is fine to buy it for less than $100 or even $200 if you can affords it.If newbies pay $2,685 for a 2005 Lincoln cent then I believe they are either morons or are poorly educated.
Do YOU know ANYONE who collects a turd on a stick ?
I've been meaning to make this post for some time. Last month I got back 4 2005 lincolns that I had sent off to PCGS....2P's and 2D's. Out of that batch, I got back 3 69RD's and 1 68RD. Unfortunately, I had jumped the gun a little bit and purchased a 2005-D in 68RD BEFORE I had gotten my submission back. I paid a dealer (here on the boards) $38 for that 2005-D MS68RD SF coin. HUGE MISTAKE ON MY PART.
Just last week I went to sell that same 68RD on eBay and I got a whopping $9.99 for it. 2 lessons learned: 1) Try to make your own and 2) If you have to buy it, have PATIENCE AND WAIT A WHILE until the demand (caused mostly be the registry race) goes away and brings the coin price back down to a reasonable level.
This may be true in most cases, but be careful how "generalized" a statement like this can be. Experiencing "registry race" coins that have prices go up as their pops go up, is not unusual to me.

ME? I don't have turds on a stick of that caliber. I would advise others not to collect them either.
