Well, that's what Robert Chambers (Coin Vault) said IS going to happen.

I was hoping for a Merc, Trade or Seated commem myself, but I'll flip a few of these for the fun of it.

There will be two of them, if memory serves -- one highlighting Young Franklin's achievements as a scientist and inventor, the other with Old Franklin's achievements as founding father and statesman.

And hopefully, a bucketload of commemorative dimes for all his bastard children .

Franklin was dead before the office was ever filled the first time. I believe he died in 1792 before Washington was elected.

Franklin died in 1790.

Washington was inaugurated for his first term in 1789.

I'd rather have a coin like this than the much over used President coins. This will go well with my PCGS/NGC frankin proof/unc set.

France is putting one out too. Here is a picture of one of the entries that didn't get picked for the French Franklin. It is by Jamie Franki, the guy who dres the Bison Nickel. It is believed that it didn't get picked because the devices were too close to the edge.
