I wanna gold piece !!!!!

I have always wanted a gold piece . I really love the design of the $2.50, 5.00 and $10.00 indian. They are the only ones that really appeal to me. I have looked on ebay for certified gold. as I will not buy gold raw..too easy to get hurt. I just keep getting outbid and am getting frustrated.
I know there are gold collectors on this site. If anyone has one they would like to part with and we could work out $$$. please pm me..
Thanks,
-Gil

  • What grade are you looking for? The incuse design Indians are hard to grade... The $10 Indian is a really different design from the other two, do you have a preference?

    Gil,

I have a couple early ICG $5 Indians that I brought in 1999/2000 that are very nice for the grade IMO.

    EF 40 1915

Like has been said these are hard to grade but just a glance they look UNC. I haven't looked at how to grade them in years but looking at my UNC $5's other than luster, the shoulder of the eagle's wing lacks the detail of the UNC and the headband lacks some detail too. Nice looking coins but I haven't followed the market and have no idea of what they would be worth. So I'd have to have a little help from the board to see if I'd ever consider selling them. I'm a collector and not a seller in general. Seems once I sell something the money just disapears on stuff I need that isn't funimage

I too spent much time trying to find common date U.S. gold type coins on eBay. My $2.50 and $5.00 Indians are from two different dealers I have known and trusted for almost 20 years. I'm still missing the $10 Indian, but came very close to buying it Friday from a well--respected forum member at the recent Rosemont, IL show. Instead, I bought my $1 type 3 and $2.50 Liberty in ANACS slabs plus a cheap $1 type 1 love token at the same show.

Other forum members gave me good advice to look for ANACS slabbed gold without problems as the best way to accumulate U.S. gold coins for a type set constrained by a budget. You are not paying a premium for a slab, but instead get authentication at a minimal price. Nothing beats a major show near you for shopping for these.

I could not agree more. Since you are buying the coin for type, take your time and browse the bourse and see what kind of coin (denomination, grade, etc.) you might like. Don't rush into it. Shop for quality (for the grade), not for price. Trade in some duplicates and get a nicer coin than you would get if you had to pay cash for it on ebay.
