Baley, I agree and it's my favorite type of the series. I actually was hoping he didn't like the coin. How bout that scan eh? It will take FC57coins a while to image these Crusty things. Whole different ballgame then that pocket change he's used to.

I agree that the scan by stman is better at showing off the coin than the first image posted. That is, of course, a very nice and original 1808/7 O.101 in mid-grade. Many CBH collectors consider the 1807 and 1808 a subtype to the series and I agree with this categorization. The profile is slightly different, the attitude of the eagle is not the same as later issues and the striking characteristics are definitely different.
Frank, all you need now is a nice 1807 to match! Perhaps a Bearded Goddess!
Tom, thanks for the good words on the scan. And just to mention I wasn't trying to knock the image by FC57coins. I was merely pointing it out to Baley, as we have this friendly ongoing debate that he bugs me about my scans and says I should get a camera. I should... but I'm not for many reasons.
I really like these mid-grade Crusty circulated Bust halves. And I really liked this coin. But since I had three 1808/7's and it was going to Frank, I thought it was a good thing.

Well - a camera WILL give you a more realistic shot than just throwing the thing into a scanner. I did this because this is what I normally do with circulated coins, but you guys are right - a picture does bring up the coin's character better Apologies to Mr. Stman
