NGC announcement that Schechter joined as marketing director
I put a post about this previously when it was first announced. This sounds like a great job and opportunity. Does anyone know to what extent Scott will be dealing with the "grass roots" collectors and enhancing the collecting experience? Here is the text of the announcment:
Schechter Joins Certified Collectibles Group as Director of Marketing
June 1, 2005, Scott Schechter assumed the role of Director of Marketing for all Certified Collectibles Group companies. In this newly created position he will manage all facets of our marketing strategy from the Collectors' Society, the core of CCG's collector resource initiative to the day-to-day marketing strategy of our various companies which include NGC, CGC, NCS and PMG.
Scott Schechter has been involved in rare coins since childhood. He began to formalize his involvement in the industry as an intern at the Smithsonian Institution's National Numismatic Collection before attending Harvard University. Since graduating in June of 2000 with a degree in the History of Science, Magna Cum Laude, he has been employed at Pinnacle Rarities as a professional numismatist specializing in high quality U.S. rare coins.
"This is a unique opportunity to work directly with collectors, dealers and industry groups to enrich and enliven the hobbyist experience," comments Schechter. "From my earliest discussions with NGC, I have been simply overwhelmed by the depth of their commitment to create the ultimate collector community. I am very excited to be a part of what I believe will be a central component in the future of the collectibles industry."
Schechter will play an important role in CCG's outreach to the collectibles business. "We've been looking for someone to fill this position for two years," states Certified Collectibles Group CEO Steve Eichenbaum. "Scott not only brings a strong marketing background to the table, but he also has an exceptional understanding of our group of businesses. Furthermore, he possesses a unique ability to relate with collectors."

Can anyone translate this corporatespeak into English?
<< <i>ultimate collector community. >>
Is that sort of like Valhalla?
Pardon my cynicism. Might be more enthusiastic if I knew what he was talking about. Just seems like fluff without substance to me.
