I've used "Buy It Now" twice and I sent one coin back as not being as advertized. Most sellers use it to allow people with more money than brains to buy at high prices, or to make people think their coin is worth much more than it really is.

Almost never. People who know what the item is worth aren't going to place a BIN considerably lower than that, and people who don't know tend to think their item might fetch moon money even if it's not even worth a couple bucks.
Flaminio, that is one of the best auctions I have ever seen on eBay. I wonder if that new member really got the car for that cheap!!! That car is sweet!!!!! Too bad I dont live in England, did you notice the auction ended in 5 minutes!?!? I wonder if she got rid of it before he got home!??! That is one great auction.
Yes, but the good "buy it nows" go very quickly, you have to search by "newest first" and check your search frequenlty throughout the day. I did a completed acution search on my favorite search parameter was very surprised at how may BIN's were there and how quickly many of them went.
They do exist, but you need to be either very lucky or very diligent to spot them first. My best BIN finds were a 1941 Lincoln cent DDO that went MS62BN at PCGS for $3.99 (that auction somehow lasted over a day, too), and my clipped 1922 plain cent.

I was happy with this Top 50 Peace dollar for $15. I search for BIN Morgan and Peace dollars all the time. Mostly looking for unattributed VAMs. Actually, always looking for unattributed VAMs. Like the others said, have to look at the newest listings first because some go fast.
The first and LAST buy it now auctions that I did on newly listed items in slabs would both make poster children for OVERGRADED CARP. I learned my lesson
I have gotten a few things that I really wanted, and felt that the buy it now price was fair. On this beauty, it had a high reserve that was never met the first time it came up. I asked what the reserve was after, the seller told me, and also said he might relist some day with a lower reserve. He did a couple months later, his buy it now was below my last bid the first time around, and I jumped on it less than an hour after it was started. Sooo glad I did.

I once paid $195.00 BIN for a raw 1900 $5.00 gold - seller had a long history of selling coins with a good feedback rating, and described it as 'Looks UNC.' It now sits in a NGC MS63 holder.

Two years ago a friend of mine paid $10,000.00 BIN for a 1959 356 Porsche coupe - it was easily a $25,000.00 car.
Almost every great deal I have won on Ebay, was coming across a BIN before any one else did. Granted it happens maybe once a month and most of the time the price spread from the BIN vs the real value isn't always that great $10-$100.00, but some great deals do happen. I would say that over the last five years I have probably found 30-50 coins that were worth more than than the BIN was priced at. In fact, just last week I bought with a BIN, an 1893 XF barber half for $75.00 that would be worth about $175.00 on Ebay with a nice big pic. That is $100.00 for me baby!
This is my best of all time. It is a now PCGS graded VF35 1904-S. I think it would pass as an XF. I paid $450.00 for it, two years ago. I think it would probably fetch $1200.00-$1800.00 on Ebay.
This is the best coin I won on a regular ol' timed auction. I paid $280.00 for it. The scan was really small is probably why it went so cheap. It is now in a PCGS XF45 (should be a 40) holder.
It happens. Obviously, though, you've got to be quick on the draw. I got a pretty decent classic head large cent with BIN a few months ago -- not a screaming rip, but it's very hard to find one of those that you can stand looking at for less than a few hundred bucks, and I got a not-very-badly-corroded one with F+ish details in a net graded ANACS slab for around $75. That's pretty run of the mill for a VG8 coin, but this is nicer than 98% of the coins graded VG8, net or straight, that I've seen. I think it had been up a couple of hours when I got it.
I think I've given away a couple of good deals via BIN too, when prices have moved more than I'd reckoned (I get the greysheet quarterly package and some things just don't come up much on complete auctions on ebay or hnai, so I'm sometimes a little out of date).
I dont think that auction came to fruition........

According to published press reports, the car sale actually happened and the guy got it for less than a dollar. But, the woman's husband is some kind of on-air personality, so the reports could just be part of a publicity stunt. The winner is a zero feedbacker, so he could be in on it.
Yeah it could definitely all be a setup for plubicity. He left her feedback but she didn't help him out I guess. Maybe she's a man-hater now One thing though, thats a pretty risky publicity stunt. Granted the car was only for sale for 5 minutes and the buyer could have been in on it waiting for it to go on sale, but thats a lot of time for some average Joe to come along with a fast connection and scoop up the car in 2 or 3 minutes! What I wouldn't give for a chance like that. Even if the car was 100 miles away I would be there in under an hour I think 3 or 4 speeding tickets along the way would be worth it.

Eric--go back to the guy who left the feedback below the car. Then look at his feedbacks and read the total value on each auction. IMHO this is a feedback scam ring in the making. You will notice--if you are looking at what I am looking at that the amounts are negligible.
I LOVE the BIN option. Many times, I set myself a maximum bid on an auction only to lose the auction because someone bids way too high. It gets frustrating when this happens over and over and over again. As a result, I'll just look for similar auctions that have a BIN and just decide if the price is right for me. I also use it when I don't want to wait forever for an auction to end, or I don't want someone sniping me at the last moment. The best BIN I ever had was a 1998 1/10 Ounce Platinum Chinese Panda for $70.00. The seller meant to list it with a BIN of $170, but made an error and followed through with the sale anyway. (I clicked BIN within five minutes of the auction being posted).
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

The good one in this one is the brockage
I think this one is pretty goob, but the obverse looks ugly
This one hurts badly. I was 10 seconds late
This one hurts too
I need to keep my eyes open more. I could have made $300+ from the last two
