I don't think you can tell FOR SURE about these dollars, but my take is this.

They are either playing with the light that they are using to photo the coins, or they are using picture fixing software to play games with the "look." I especially do not like the first coin. The color looks totally phoney, especially on the obverse. The others just look weird.

I also have no respect for sellers who say something is worth $7,500, $30,000 and $4,000; and then offer it for under $100. If you think that these guys are selling these coins for many thousands less than the coins are worth, YOU are really STUPID. image

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I agree, these coins look suspicious but mostly they look suspicious to me because of the outrageous valuations. Nice looking coins from the very bad photographs provided. If there were better photos I might be interested in these coins at a reasonable price but as it stands, no way.

Eric's right. that seller doesn't live far from me and there's plenty of wilderness up there to grow all the funny stuff you wish.

I wouldn't touch any of those coins- they're obviously being grossly overgraded and overvalued, and they might be complete crap altogether...... image

    They look shady to me.

Here is a PCGS MS66PL (not DMPL)

  • The four thousand buck coin has the highest bid of the three as I write: $80. Ha, Ha, Ha!!!!

Actually it is kind of sad. It reminds me of the time I went through a box of raw Morgans and they all had things like "MS 68 DMPL" and "Super Rare Gem" written on them. Even people who greatly discounted the grades overpaid for them. Sigh.
