I am an active duty Coastie and have been for 19+ years. My father was in the Coast Guard from 64-68 and my grandfather from 42-46. I also have a cousin who was a SPAR (women's Coast Guard Reserve-stood for Semper Paratus Always Ready) from 44-45. My other grandfather was Army during WWII but stayed stateside. His twin was in the Navy and actually served in the gunboats on the Yangtze River. I have that service medal and it is pretty neat. Their father served in the Marine Corp in China during the Boxer Rebellion. An Uncle served as an ambulance driver in France in WWI and his brother was in the Navy serving on an old battleship.
My wife's family all had folks who served in the Army in combat including an artillery officer in Vietnam, glider pilot in Europe, ground troops in Eaurope and two great grandfathers who served in the trenches during WWI.
My warmest thoughts and best wishes go out to all veterans and active duty folks especially those currently serving away from their families and in harms way.
Thanks to all of those who served our country, especially my uncle who gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country and to Terry, my best bud in high school who did the same. You are always in my heart.
US Army 1968-1974...glad to do my part, glad it's done. Those poor boys in The Suck" are really havin' a hard time, harder than we had it. Hopefully, they will receive a warm welcome home when the time comes.
in honor of those who gave their ultimate sacrifice my sincerest of gratitude goes out and my hope of a special place in the next realm is but all yours to forevermore enjoy."THANK YOU"

everything in life is but merely on loan to us by our appreciation....lose your appreciation and see
I have too many family to list for service, but a few notables are:

Mother's father - 27 yrs, retired SFC US Army (tours in Korea and WWII)
Father's father - served US Army (WWII)

I can tell you first hand how sometimes you wonder with bullets whizzing by your head if it's making any difference. Threads like these answer those doubts, so a giant "Thanks" from service members, past and present.
