ALL of the 1968 cents come mushy. The hubs were worn out and badly needed to be replaced, which was what happened in 1969. This coin looks to be sharper than average from what I've seen. Compare a 1968 cent to a 1969 cent. They are not exactly alike. The differences are subtle, but if you are a Lincoln fan, you can't miss it.
This looks like a really nice coin, at least from the obverse. Only reservation might be Lincoln's shoulder, which appears to have contact spot. That could prevent it from getting the "highest honors" if the reverse is up with the obverse.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I think the light source needed to be about 15 dgrees toward the bottom to get the best possible effect. The focus is just slightly short but wouldn't be important if the angle of lighting was better.

<< <i>Nice pic. Lighting is a little harsh (one light?) may try a second light and try to get the lights higher over the coin. >>
Thanks Mark, I'll do some more experimenting
(yes, one light
From what I have seen mgoodm3 is an expert with coin imaging. Take his advice seriously.

It's not a bad picture though.
Looks like a pretty nice coin to me!
