Show off the WORSE auction photos where you actually WON the coin (over $100)

I'm sure everyone of us has taken a stupid risk with bidding and winning a not-so-cheap coin in auction (like eBay). Try to show a coin you won that was the most expensive with a horrible picture. This one is an 1879 3CN PF65 in a PCGS old rattler slab. I got the idea for this thread in a previous thread that was gawking at bad eBay photos. The coin ended up being a very nice gem (possible shot at Cameo) from a guy in England.

Man, I've bid on a few doosies in my day. Unfortuantely, I don't have the images to share. I didn't think they were worth keeping.

Here's the $1 gold piece I just won. Turned out to be a very very good deal for me -- I'll know just how good when it comes back from grading:

    Here's the post detailing it:

    More?
  • A few months ago I bought a 1879 $5 gold with no picture at all but was certified PCGS ms61. Turned out to be a great deal

I bought a bunch of Lincolns and the picture showed little yellow envelopes. It turns out that they were all Uncirculated including a 31-S and every phili mint from 09-58 many being complete red. I think I bid around 50 bucks for it.
  • Not as bad as your example...but when buying toned coin......the image and colors mean everything!!!!

About a year ago, I was the high bidder in an Ebay auction with one of those telephoto fuzzy pictures I wish I'd have saved. I shared it with a few forum buddies (April 04). The picture was so bad that after 7 days of bidding I won the 35-s pictured below for $29 plus shipping. It holdered PCGS 5, but I always thought it should 6.

I won this lovely 1872 NDN cent from Jay Parrino on ebay. I knew it had to be way better than the way it looked! It certainly was!!!
