I'd send it to ANACS to see if they think it's real. Even they might have trouble authenticating it. It's either been cast or partially melted which gives it a cast appearance. Either way it's a problem coin that might be a candidate for "poorest known" if it is genuine.

Nifty coin. And I see another change with the "new" ANACS -- they're writing quarter eagles as "$2.50" instead of "$2½". I guess their new font doesn't have a one-half character.

The images look "puffy" unless it's just how it scanned. If it's authentic then I agree- I'm sure few have ever made it to that point of being worn!
