andruw jones was born Birthdate: 04/23/1977 he now has 256 home runs!

everyone here knows i am no braves fan! IMO this kid will not only go down in history as the best fielding center fielder ever! there is also a chance if he can learn to stay off the slider!! he just might hit 700 home runs!!

I open to hear the arguments against? like i said im no braves fan..

Andruw Jones will not hit 500 HR's.

well he has avg.. right at 32 home runs i think over the last 7 years. being 28 years old. he will have another 10 years to play. at lets say 25 a year would put him over 500.

he will do it very quietly, but i think he just might hit close to 700.

As much as I like Griffey, remember Griff was on pace for what, 800 HRs?

Jones will break down in the same fashion and be lucky to get 500.
  • Oh boy, a post on that enigma Andruw Jones. I remember when he came up around the same time as Vladdy and they were projected to be the same type of player--wow, that was a joke. Now I realize Jones is a year younger and is a better defensive player, he doens't compare to Vladdy in any other way. Oh, you gotta feel sorry for all those clowns who bought up Jones' 95 Bowman over Vladdy's!

I think he has a good shot at 500 home runs. Although he fooled me this spring hitting home runs like crazy and then started the season doing nothing. He has been on fire lately but the very slow start may not let him reach the monster numbers I was hoping for this year (for my fantasy teams).

Off the path a bit ...

I think that avg 32 HR's a year is great. Not for today's game. Andruw Jones has had a solid career thus far, but I do not consider this guy a home run hitter. He has all the tools, but I always expected him to be a .300 hitter, 40 HR guy ... many did.

  • ...just another example of why to take the numbers of these modern players with a grain of salt. This man's best two finishes in Home Runs were 9th and 10th in his league, and he is going to end up with 500 jacks. I don't know about 700, but a healthy Jones should reach 500, and then I can just throw some more salt on that accomplishment as it won't mean what 500 has meant before.

    Skip-

I agree about the numbers being dilluted a lot. People hitting 40 and 50 bombs a year when it used to be a rare thing...and I think that in the future, HoF voters are going to be VERY selective when it comes to using HR's as a guideline.
