Good Morning all:
Well I have finally completed the 1985 OPC Hockeyset. I am close in three others but this one is the first to say 100% beside the name. I am four cards short of having it in all PSA 8 or better, but I figured I would include the 4 7's I just got back to complete it. I will up grade a few cards eventually like the Lemieux's and the PSA 7's. If any one has these 4 cards out there.

Nice going. That is a great set. Did you put this together mainly through your own submissions?
Your post prompted me to check out the other 80's sets to see what is happening.
The only other complete set I could find was in 82-83 OPC. However, it looks like there are quite a few
collectors working on sets. I also find it interesting that no one has taken on the 79-80 OPC set in a serious way given the fact that it has the most significant rookie card of the modern era.
Good luck with the 80-81 set.
Have a great day...Rob..
Thanks for the kind words. Most of the cards have been submitted on my own. I had a very nice RAW set that I collected as a kid and submitted many of those. I also filled in some gaps from AJ in Toronto and Ab D Cards out of Calgary. Dale at Ab D is a great guy and I bought all of my RAW sets from him when he was in Winnipeg. My main goal is to complete the 80-81 set with out getting divorced for spend all my allowance on hockey cards and grading. Then once this one is done I am on the fence for either the 79-80 or 1986-87. I know whwich would be easier to say the least. Good luck in your sets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Mike Bossy Set (highest grade for each card)
1984 OPC set (all 9's and 10's - key cards in 10)
1951 Parkhurst (all psa 8 and 9)
I MAY attempt the 79-80 set - seriously considering it I have about 2 MINT MINT MINT raw sets (these will all come back 9's MAYBE some 8's - excluding the gretzky of course but I have 2 opc psa 9's sitting in my sock drawer (you didnt read that)
79-80 is a nice set and very tough, when I am ready to spend close to 2k on grading alone I may consider it, untill then I am happy with my raw sets.
I also have some NM/MINT-MINT topps 79-80 raw sets - same thing when i am ready to spend money on grading i may send in - (prolly grab 2nd place behind RVC's MONSTER set!)
I just cant justify spending 2-3-4k on getting cards graded when i could buy some really nice psa cards for that price...wouldnt you rather buy a psa 7 or 8 howe rc than to spend on grading fees so you can be #1 in a set? I would! But we are all different!
I have extra MINT raw cards from 79-80 PM me and I may be able evenly sell them to you guys (not all to one person, must spread the wealth
Now you know what would be a niiice set to complete? How about a 1979-80 OPC Oilers Team Set??? now that would be a good one ...PSA should add it..in fact i will ask them to do this.
IMO Keep it RAW and get the Key cards graded - save the grading fees for nicer psa cards.
Patrick.
