The coin looks right. Could be one heck of a buy.
Did you read this at the bottom of the listing? - "American Silver Coin, 1795, extremely precious, XF-AU"
Here's a version partly in English:

Doesn't look like a cast counterfeit, but could very well be a high quality die transfer fake.

Who says if you win the bid that you will receive THAT COIN if it is real? It would not be the first time that somebody sold a coin on eBay with a “generic” photo. I'm not big on these international transactions where the legal remedies are nebulous to say the least.

Sotheby's graded the same way back in the 1980's. I recall going to only one auction there for a half dime collection. I bought one lot of combined coins where they were called from VF to EF...and all were choice to near gem. I paid through the nose for those XF's!
I also bought an 1850-0 that was a single lot to my recollection. That too was called XF but CHOICE. I'll say. It slabbed out NGC65 back in 1988. I like the English grading system but not the prices they bring!

Hopefully we'll see the coin come up for sale so that we can know the actual grade of the coin. Knowing my luck, it will be an MS65!

I did not see this thread until today but, coincidentally, we had placed a bid of $26,000 through one of our Chinese coin dealer contacts. Looks like we lost by one increment. That would have put us into the coin at $29,900. The coin is a solid AU and has been off of the market for 80 years or so. Damn......
